Spaghetti and meatballs or spaghetti with meatballs is an Italian-American dish consisting of spaghetti, tomato sauce and meatballs. It is most similar to the Italian dish maccheroni alla chitarra con polpette.
Ingredients:
For Meatballs:
250 gms Beef/ chicken mince
1 white bread soaked in water( drain the water and mash the bread,make sure you squeeze and drain the excess water)
1 egg
Oregano 1 teaspoon
Thyme 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilly powder 2 good pinches
Red chilly flake 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Chopped garlic 1 1/2 tablespoons
Flour (maida) for coating
Mix everything well make balls and coat it with normal flour( i did not season the flour so its normal all purpose flour.
In a pot add olive oil or normal oil. Fry the meatballs until golden brown make sure you do not burn the oil because you will be cooking sauce in it.You just need to give color to the meat balls.The meatballs will not be fully cooked.
Give color and take it out in a plate.
Sauce ingredients:
1 1/2 medium onion( chopped)
2 tablespoon garlic chopped
1 big bay leaf
5-6 fully riped tomatoes ( grind)
Salt 1 teaspoon or to taste
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Thyme 1/2 teaspoon
‼️Oregano 1 teaspoon( check your oregano if its too bitter and powder like then add 1/2 teaspoon only)
Red chilly powder 1/2 teaspoon
Red chilly flakes 1/2 teaspoon
Crushed black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Fresh basil or fresh oregano( optional)
In the same pan add garlic,onion and bay leaf cook until translucent then add the tomatoes purè. All the spices salt and sugar. Cook for 10 minutes on medium heat then add your meat balls cook on low heat until meat balls are cooked.
Add fresh basil or oregano leaves and its ready.
