The team is about 50% from immigrant families and led England to its first final in 50+ years. Racists spewed vile words toward Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka — who are Black — after they all missed kicks during England’s penalty shootout defeat in the Euro 2020 championship match.
Disgruntled England fans took to social media to take out their anger through racist remarks towards their black players. Even going as far as to hurl the n-word and post monkeys and bananas on the black players social media accounts.
A mural of Marcus Rashford, who fights child food poverty, was also defaced.
Boris Johnson, the England Team, and the Football Association condemned the remarks. Prince William writes that he is, “sickened by the racist abuse aimed at England players after last night’s match.” The
Before you start abusing these guys, remember they: Carried England to their first final in over 50 years. Successfully campaigned for child hunger and free meals for kids. Publicly stood up against racism and racial injustice.
