Essere furbo come una volpe = to be as cunning as a fox
Essere testardo come un mulo = to be as stubborn as a mule
Essere pazzo come un cavallo = literally, โto be as crazy as a horseโ- English equivalent: to be as crazy as a hatter.
Essere cieco come una talpa = literally, โto be as blind as a moleโ- English equivalent: to be as blind as a bat.
Essere lento come una lumaca = to be as slow as a snail.
Essere la mosca bianca = essere molto raro/ essere lโeccezione positiva. Literally, โto be the white flyโ which means to be very rare and the positive exception. English equivalent: to be a rare bird.
Essere la pecora nera = essere lโeccezione negativa. English equivalent: to be the black sheep.
Avere la momoria da elefante = avere una memoria eccellente. Literally, โto have a memory like an elephantโ, meaning to have an excellent memory.
Avere la pelle dโoca = avere i brividi per la paura, lโemozione, il freddo o il ribrezzo. English equivalent: to have goosebumps. It means to shiver because you are afraid, emotional, cold or disgusted.
Avere i grilli per la testa = avere idee stravaganti e bizzarre. Literally, โto have grasshoppers in your headโ. It means to have extravagant ideas.
Sputare il rospo = confessare qualcosa che non si voleva dire. Literally, โto spit the toadโ, meaning to confess a secret or something you didnโt want to tell. English equivalent: โto spill the beansโ.
Ingoiare il rospo = accettare una situazione sgradevole perchรฉ non si hanno alternative. Literally, โto swallow the toadโ, meaning to accept an unpleasant situation because you have no alternatives. English equivalent: โto bite the bulletโ.
