A&Z #959 – Randy Santel “Atlas” vs Flaco’s Cuban Sandwich Food Challenge at Flaco’s Cuban Bakery in Gainesville, Florida!! This event was hosted next-door by Flaco’s Latin sister-restaurant Vecinos Gainesville. Katina and I decided to kick off our 2021 food challenge touring in Florida, and our February Florida Tour turned into a February & March Florida Tour!! I attempted lots of food challenges all over the state of Florida. For food challenge #42, we traveled to Gainesville, Florida so I could attempt and help kick off Flaco’s new Cuban Sandwich Food Challenge at Flaco’s Cuban Bakery which is known for serving the best authentic Cuban style sandwiches in Gainesville, FL. I had 1 hour to feast on 3 different Cuban sandwiches plus 2 arepas, a skewer with plantains and cheese, Cuban style black beans and rice, and Cuban desserts too. I was trying to win my $70 Cuban food feast free plus a sweet t-shirt and the #1 spot on Flaco’s Wall of Fame. Thanks to Tim and everyone with Flaco’s and Vecinos for the amazing food, drinks, desserts, and hospitality!! Thanks also to the great people who came up that night to watch and meet Katina & I!! Flaco’s Cuban Sandwich Food Challenge in Gainesville, Florida ($70):
– Flaco’s has a laidback atmosphere serving Cuban Sandwiches, Arepas, Bowls, Puff Pastries, and their Very Popular Cuban Gator Sandwich. They also have goodies for the local vegetarians like their Sunshine veggie blend that features Artie’s Tempeh. Enjoy their outdoor patio with nightly events.
– This event was hosted by Flaco’s next-door Latin sister-restaurant Vecinos Gainesville.
– There is a 1 hour time limit to finish Flaco’s 6.5lb Cuban Sandwich Food Challenge.
– Cuban Sandwich – Homemade Pork, Ham, Mayo, Mustard, Pickles & Swiss pressed on Cuban Bread.
– Cuban Gator Sandwich – Homemade Pork, Ropa (Beef), Mayo, Mustard, Pickles & Swiss pressed on Cuban Bread.
– Scarface Sandwich – Sausages, Salami, Ham, Mayo, Mustard, Tomatoes, Mojo & Swiss pressed on Cuban Bread.
– There was a pork arepa and a beef (ropa) arepa, plus a skewer with plantain chips and cheese.
– There was a serving of vegetable slaw plus Cuban style black beans and rice. It was delicious!!
– For dessert, there was 3 Guava & Cheese Pastries plus 3 Quesitos – cheese filled pastry twists.
– Winners receive the $70 Cuban food meal free plus a sweet t-shirt and spot on Wall of Fame.
