When friends and family visit from out of town, they always ask me for a list of food recommendations. NYC has an endless amount of epic food so producing a list is always a challenge. Seven layer cookies are often left off most guides although they are a supremely New York food.
Rainbow cookies don’t only remind me of home, but also, they take me back to my childhood. My mom loves rainbow cookies. When I was a kid, she would always bring a box home after a trip to the grocery store. They never lived to see more than two nights in our kitchen.
Additionally, almond paste tastes just like the Taiwanese almond beverage that my dad loves making for the family for cold winter nights.
