Today I will show the step by step videorecipe of Baked Pasta with Sausages and mozzarella! This is a version of Pasta al Forno, the classic Italian Sunday lunch!
You will need a bit of time to pull this dish off, there are a few steps to be followed but at the end you will be able to enjoy a phenomenal meal… and that is all it counts!
In this recipe, I used Italian sausages with fennel seed because I particularly like them, but you can also make small meatballs instead of the sausage, or simply a ragu. The choice is yours!

Baked Pasta with Sausages (and mozzarella) – RECIPE
Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 50 mins
Complexity: Easy
Ingredients (4 people):
– 350gr pasta (I used Elicoidali)
– 250gr Italian sausages
– 200gr mozzarella
– 50gr Parmigiano (grated)
– 250gr bechamel sauce
– 700gr Tomato passata
– 1 onion
– salt and pepper
– extra-virgin olive oil
Procedure:
1. Chop the onion and sweat it in a large pan;
2. Add the sausages without the skin and cut in small pieces;
3. Add the tomato passata and let everything cook for about 10-15 minutes;
4. Now add the bechamel sauce and stir;
5. In the meanwhile you can start cooking the pasta. When it is halfway through its cooking time (ie VERY al dente), mix it with the sauce;
6. Sprinkle the Parmigiano cheese and shredded mozzarella in the pan;
7. Stir everything and then move into a baking tray;
8. Once the pasta is in the baking tray, add a last layer of Parmigiano on top and shredded mozzarella, and then bake for about 30 minutes in the pre-heated oven at 190C;
9. Serve and ENJOY!
ITALIAN FOOD BOSS SPECIAL TIP: The pasta should be really cooked al dente when mixed with the sauce, because you are going to put in the oven for additional 30 minutes. Don’t let it cook too much otherwise it will end up soggy!
