How to make authentic Italian Meat Sauce in the Instant Pot. Best Instant Pot meat sauce recipe.
-RECIPE-
INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds of ground beef or half beef half pork
2 large cans of crushed tomatoes
1 small onion
1 whole head of garlic (optional)
1 cup of dry red wine
1 cup chicken stock
6 oz tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste
fresh basil leaves
DIRECTIONS:
1. Set the Instant Pot on the sauté setting and add two tablespoons of olive oil. Add the onion and garlic season them with sault and sauté until fragrant. Once the garlic and onion are done, remove them from the pot to prevent the garlic from burning.
2. Add another tablespoon of olive oil to the pot and throw in the meat and season with salt. Once the meat is somewhat browned add the tomato paste. Then add the wine and deglase teh pot. Allow the meat to simmer in the wine for a few minutes then add the garlic and onion back to the pot and mix together.
3. Add the crushed tomatoes and chicken stock. Close the lid and make sure the pressure valve is set to seal. Cook on high pressure for 20 minutes and let it natural release until the pin drops, this took an additional 27 minutes.
4. At this point you will notice the sauce has too much liquid and needs to thicken. You can press the sauté setting and allow it to simmer, it will naturally thicken within a few minutes. Add more salt and pepper to taste and fresh basil leaves. If you taste the sauce and it’s a bit too tangy, add a tablespoon or two of granulated sugar and it will sweeten it right up.
This sauce is great for lasagna, eggplant parmesan or even served over a plate of pasta. My favorite way to eat it is in a bowl with some crusty bread!
