Bringing you extremely tempting and tantalizing savory vermicelli recipes. Namkeen Seviyan (Savoury Vermecilli) is a famous appetizer, even it can be served as a light dinner or breakfast. Vermicelli is a traditional type of pasta round in a section similar to spaghetti. In English-speaking regions, it is usually thinner than spaghetti, while in Italy it is typically thicker
The term vermicelli is also used to describe various types of thin noodles from Asia. In #Vietnam, vermicelli is the same as angel hair pasta or capellini. Vermicelli is available either as long strands or 2cm long pieces. Vermicelli is known by various local names such as Semya in Telugu, sémiya when made with wheat & sevai when made with rice in Tamil, Semiya in Malayalam, shavige in Kannada, shemai in Bengali, seviyan in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, vaLavaT/shevaya in Marathi, simei in Odia, sev in Gujarati, semige in Tulu
It hardly takes any effort and very quick to make, yet it is good for health being light on the tummy and you could make it as rich as you wish by adding dry-fruits, ghee etc. We prefer using olive oil that really makes it so yummy savory taste. Seviyan normally is made of wheat flour and semolina(sooji) , hence, it contains a good amount of fiber too. You can use home-made seviyan for even better taste.

I remember my mom kneading the dough for seviyan and make seviyan out of it just through hands during monsoon. I really love those wonderful memories.
