Pizza Margherita was invented in Naples to celebrate the visit of the queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, with the distinctive colors of the flag of Italy (green basil – white mozzarella – red tomato).
Not many of us have an oven that can reach 350°C (660 °F) which is the correct temperature to cook pizza. A good workaround is to cook the pizza first in a pan and then finish the cooking in the oven. Watch the tutorial and you will know exactly how to make a delicious pizza margherita.
The masters of this pizza are obviously the people in Naples and Amalfi. When we run the Amalfi Wonders Walking Tour we enjoy a couple of times the pizza made by the masters
