Here’s an Italian meal I’ve eaten around 5000 times. I split it up into 5 portions, but I’m a big dude…a regular sized human being could make 10 meals out of this. Eating a high protein, healthy diet doesn’t have to be expensive, hard, or take a bunch of time.
Is it delicious? Eh…it’s passable.
Is it cheap? Yes. $8 total ($8.50 if you include the rice). Split into 10 meals, that’s $.85/meal.
Is it easy? Check out the instructions below and let me know if you have questions (you won’t).
Is it healthy? A heck of a lot healthier than most meals you can get for $1. Split 5 portions, it’s 50g of protein and about 50g of carbs (with the rice I used), around 3 g fat. Yeh, it’s healthy…people don’t eat enough protein, brah.
How can I make it taste better?: use olive oil (it will bump the fat content a little) on the chicken before you cook, or afterward on the portions (mix it up). Add parmesan (I eat parmesan on everything). Add garlic powder or other seasoning. Use fresh chicken (tastes better, but bumps up the price a little)
What you need:
– 3 lbs of chicken breasts (frozen in my case)
– 24 oz jar of marinara sauce
– Crock Pot / Slow Cooker
– 20 sec to make and 8-10 hours to wait
How to:
– Dump chicken in the slow cooker
– Dump pasta sauce in the slow cooker on top of the chicken
– Set to low for 8-10 hours (or 4-6 on high)
– Stir occasionally if you want to
– Optional: cook up 2 cups (measured dry) of white rice in a rice cooker (~1 minute prep time)
