Business secretary Alok Sharma responded to criticisms that the UK is not providing enough personal protective equipment for healthcare workers, saying the government ‘needs to do even more’.
He said he was ‘sorry for any life that’s been lost during this global pandemic’.
When asked about the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, he admitted only 4,200 loans have been granted despite a backlog of 300,000 applications.
He said he is working with lenders as quickly as possible to deliver funding to businesses hit by the #coronavirus pandemic.
