OXFORD, Ohio (WKRC) – Miami University says it’s suspending face-to-face classes until at least April 12 in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The university says it made the decision following Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s announcement Tuesday with recommendations from the Ohio Department of Health that large gatherings should be limited.
The suspension of face-to-face classes, lectures, and other gatherings begins Wednesday. All classes will be done remotely. However, residence halls, dining halls and all campus services are staying open.
The university is also suspending sponsored travel to CDC Level 3 countries, which are Italy, Iran, South Korea and China. They are also encouraging students, faculty and staff to limit any travel to CDC Level 2 and 3 countries. Any students or staff traveling to one of those countries will be required to report it to the university and be screened when they return.
There are no reported coronavirus cases at Miami University at this time.
