New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio holds news conference on Tuesday to provide an update on the city’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. The COVID-19 outbreak in New York state has spread to about 1,700 people, hospitalizing 19% of them and killing at least 12, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. Mayor de Blasio signed an executive order on Monday that effectively closed restaurants, bars and cafes in the nation’s largest city to the public, limiting these establishments to takeout and delivery only in order to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.
