Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged today (February 28) to take the policy steps needed to prevent the coronavirus outbreak from dealing a severe blow to the country’s fragile economic recovery. Abe said the government has sufficient reserves for emergency spending related to the epidemic, signaling that he sees no immediate need to compile a fresh spending package.
