🍕 Pepperoni Meat Deep Dish Pizza
🧾 Ingredients
For the Dough
3¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cornmeal (gives that classic deep-dish texture)
1½ tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
2¼ tsp active dry yeast
1¼ cups warm water
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup melted butter
For the Filling
1 cup sliced pepperoni
250g ground beef (or sausage)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
1 small onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
For the Sauce
2 cups crushed tomatoes
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
Salt & pepper to taste
1 tbsp olive oil
👨🍳 Instructions
1. Make the Dough
In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add flour, cornmeal, salt, olive oil, and butter.
Knead until smooth (8–10 minutes).
Cover and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled.
2. Prepare the Filling
Cook ground beef in a pan until browned. Drain excess fat.
Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.
Season lightly with salt and pepper. Set aside.
3. Make the Sauce
Heat olive oil in a pan.
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 15–20 minutes until thickened.
4. Assemble the Pizza
Preheat oven to 220°C (430°F).
Grease a deep round pan or cast iron skillet.
Roll out dough and press into the pan, covering bottom and sides.
Layer in this order (important!):
Mozzarella cheese (bottom layer)
Cooked meat mixture
Pepperoni slices
Pour sauce on top
Sprinkle parmesan cheese
5. Bake
Bake for 25–35 minutes until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing (helps it set).
🔥 Tips for Best Results
Use low-moisture mozzarella to avoid soggy pizza.
Don’t overload with sauce—deep dish already holds a lot.
A cast iron pan gives the best crispy edges.
Letting it rest is crucial—otherwise it’ll fall apart
