An avalanche ripped through a ski area in northwest Italy this week, swallowing parts of the resort in seconds.
Authorities say at least two off-piste skiers were killed.

My dumbass didn’t even know Italians had skiing..
Most of the comments from non-skiers. It is not so easy to get out of the way when you are in a ski lift queue, even turning around or taking off skis is hard. And the only option would be uphill so you might get 50 yards max. Also it is very very rare for a pisted slope to be hit. None of these people were hurt, just a mist of snow by the time it gets to them. The people killed were skiing off-piste much higher up.
