Ciao everyone. Today we are looking at a huge 24 hour MRE from the Italian Army! This is a modular MRE, containing a box for breakfast, lunch and supper. It’s always a treat to have one of these rations, as they are pretty rare. I’m excited to taste this MRE and have high hopes it that it might be high up on our MRE leaderboard. But will it be number 1? Today we’ll find out.

  1. My humble opinion is that even though they are only 8-hour MREs, the Norwegians are currently at the top of my list. Definitely the best main courses and compact packaging.

  2. Really glad you decided to show us the napkin you used for your face, this review could have gone in a direction none of us came here for 😂

  3. “Jesus Christ 😂😂” That was funny. That was a really good looking ration. I think you are right also, needed a cold drink or two! 8.95!! Great score. Cheers my friend! Have a great weekend

  4. If you have one, can you please put up a link to where you bought that groovy coffee cup (μπρίκι-style)? Ive seen it in many of your vids, but I cant find anything like it here in the US. Thanks

  5. The best fruit cocktail in a ration was the US freezedried fruit cocktail from the 80's. Reconstitute it with box milk and yummy.

  6. Here's a tip: make sure to drain the excess water from the rice salad before eating it.

  7. Hi Jono!

Awesome review. These Italian get poo pooed a bit too much I fear.

I've yet to have one, so I don't have an opinion of my own, but from what I've seen, they appear hearty and of high quality.

    Take care!

  8. Oh lovely! Yes, I’d give that a go for sure.
Thought of you yesterday whilst being absolutely hammered by horse flies. I’ve got to find some dragon flies!
    Hope you’re well❤👍👋

  9. I haven't done an Italian ration yet, but watching they don't seem as good as the likes of french, polish, german etc. Kinda very simple. This was an awesome review buddy!! Hopefully one day I can get ahold of one of these and check it out. Loved seeing this! Have a great weekend brotha!

  10. Howdy my friend( johno) . I am behind, sorry. Good looking ration. Lack of comments, is not like me. I just talk short and sweet this time. Well done , my friend. I hope you enjoyed most. It seems you did. Peace, John.

  11. It could probably have been improved with a little jam for breakfast, better cutlery (IE bamboo disposable cutlery is cheap and pretty good), softer napkins, and a pair of other instant drinks (tea, chocolate… Only coffee is a little monotone).

  12. Italian here: while packed and tinned, it's pretty much the common structure of an Italian meal.
Breakfast is coffee and cookies (biscotto), all sweet.
Two course lunch/dinner with bread/crackers and plain water to drink.
in Italy we rarely drink soft drink with food. Just a coffee at the end.

That's why the vitamins are in pills. Soluble energy drinks are not really our thing.

And yeah, the rice salad needs to be drained. The fresh not canned version is pretty similar to cantonese rice with peas, olives, carrots, whatnot.

  13. I used those rations during my military training camps in Italy, outside the barracks. It's important to clarify: not all rations are the same! In your case, the blue sticker indicates a specific type of ration. In theory (depending on availability), there's a different color for each day of the week, and they're all different. This is to vary the diet. A different ration wasn't always available, but they were often different, as I said, depending on availability at the time. The goal, however, is to provide a different ration whenever possible.

  14. My military service in Italy was between 1979/1980.
The MRE don't changed a lot from these years.
I Remember that when we do exercitations in NATO ambiance, we excanges our MRE with cigarrets or other things that the soldiermathes of other nations carry on.
Ciao and Sorry for my english…

  15. 11:14 yea we use the italianization of the austrian term for those and reserve "salsiccia" (sausage) for the italian sausage

  16. In Italy they still call them "K-Ration".
You've taken the wrong K-ration. The best Italian one is the one with jam, Cordiale, and energy drink powder. Enervit tablets also act as a drink; they're effervescent and dissolve in water.
The Cordiale during the Night Watch is essential.😂

  17. Those napkins are not meant to clean yourself, but to prevent you to get dirt from what you are eating, that’s why they not absorb liquid. I also learned it few years ago 😅😂

  18. Amazing video man, I'm from Italy and I can assure that the food brands in this MRE are actually top quality and well-known here. Italians really care about their food, and even in MREs there’s a strong focus on maintaining that standard, despite the long shelf life or preservation methods. As you know, food is a huge morale boost, especially in tough situations, and it's considered an essential part of overall well-being. That’s why even military rations here try to reflect real Italian taste and quality, not just basic nutrition.
