Its banned because of the live larva. So its banned for environmental/agricultural reasons. Also its considered to be bad to eat if the larva are dead.

Honestly if you like strong taste of aged cheese you will love Casu Marzu. If you close your eyes you don´t even notice those worms because they are very small.
Kinder eggs are also banned in the us…
Not because they are revolting, but because some people in the us are so stupid they'd try to eat the toy inside.
As a fan of cheeses, whoever makes casu marzu should be sentenced to prison for manufacturing of bio-weaponry.
It's banned not because it's poisonous… but because the maggots don't die in your stomach acid and will gnaw their way through your guts if you don't properly kill the maggots prior to eating it.
