  1. I haven't tossed pasta on the wall since I was a kid. Now I taste it during random intervals. I don't rinse out the pasta either. I should add salt, I knew I should add salt. Anyways, I do pretty much 99% of this and just thought I was being a lazy cook 🤷

  2. Gotta disagree with you on when to use salt, makes no difference at all. bubbles disperse the salt evenly, and the water is still moving even when not boiling. Even when oversalting i've never had salt left on the bottom.

  3. Not only did I learn how to cook pasta correctly. I learnt why Italians always use their hands when talking.
It's the movements they make while cooking. It's just force of habit.
    😂

  4. Sigh. Adding oil is definitely necessary if you have a pot that's a bit undersized for the amount of pasta. It breaks surface tension and prevents it from foaming over. Just a little oil (like a tablespoon) goes a long way.

It doesn't coat the pasta, as the oil just sits there on the surface. And if you're really worried about pasta getting oil on it, just get it off the top of the water after cooking, before straining.
