Whoa whoa geez Pauly. That’s the problem with American pizza everyone has a hand in it. That is not always necessarily bad, but at the end of the day it should have Italian roots. If it evolves beyond that, it would be identity loss. All the bizarre toppings they come with, from frog nipples to baboon pubes, that’s the American touch. Good dough is good dough.
I'm from Europe, more precisely from Croatia, and I've eaten pizza many times in Italy because I live relatively close to Italy, but honestly, the pizza in Croatia is much better for me.
Italian here. He's 100% right. Pizza is like Roman Empire, the Church and USA of the original. It is accepting all who want to contribute. Ecumenismo! If you state you make original neapolitan pizza though, you should stick to tradition. I love Hawaiian pizza, but bring me a margherita with no basil and I will not eat it!
Knew a good Italian restaurant in South Florida named Sals..the whole kitchen was Haitians and Hispanic people but man let me tell you, pizza was the closest thing to New York in Miami! You could smell the garlic and oil from the parking lot!
