In this video, I will be tasting blind wines across four different price categories: 10, 20, 50 and 100 Euros. Can we really tell the difference between cheap and expensive wine? And where exactly do the lines get the most blurry?

I agree with you 100% Masters of Wine and Sommeliers arent trained to taste "cost" but quality of wine. There are awsome 30 dollar bottles and mediocre 100 dollar bottles. Too often I see people quote flawed studies that say something stupid like "wine experts cant tell the difference between a red wine and a white wine that was dyed red. You mean the people who can identify grape variety, region and vintage can't tell a Chardonnay from a Cab Sauv? REALLY? Maybe price is less connected to quality than the public is led to believe by the general press. The truth is that it is more of a range of probabilities. MOST cheap wines will taste cheap. But there are exceptions. MOST expensive wines will be more complex and "better" (depending on taste). But there will be exceptions
From my personal experience with dogs, they usually HATE the smell of alcohol. Does yours do?
I must try Lirac I haven't yet. ❤
A fun and intriguing video. I appreciate that the wines all come from the same geographical region to make for a fair comparison. I guess the video sort of shows that you get what you pay for, yet there are appreciable values often in more affordable price ranges. I still would like to have seen you assess a point score to each wine to indicate some type of quantifiable measurement for quality to price value.
Fun video! You did an excellent job at the beginning explaining how, and why, price and quality interact, and how to separate quality from personal preference. I haven't recently become a fan of southern Rhone wines, and these are now on the list of those I will look for. Thank you!
At least this video showed who is the expert. I would not have been able to do this, I think. There are a lot of very pleasing wines between 10 and 20 Euros. I save them for the special moments. The more expensive wines require more concentration and attention. No celebration or chitchat, but the wine as the main event.
Over the last few years I have significantly upgraded my wine collection. Including Rivetto. So much to look forward to.
Ok, what's the tour shirt. I figured Silent Theory but I can't find that image associated with them.
Southern Rhone has great QPR wines.
