I realise English is not your first language and truly appreciate your posts. However, have you checked for synonyms if ‘insane’. We have so many wonderful words that describe wonder, puzzlement, incredulity, etc. I know this sounds mean but you can express what you really feel and mean by using words more in line with your emotions. Check a thesaurus, a print one is better than online!

Those historical places should be preserved, as they are part of our common cultural heritage.
I don't know how this is handled in Italy- here in Germany, there are fonds for the restauration of abandoned castles. But they come along with the obligation for the owner to open at least a part of the property to the public.
