Italy, France and Spain continue to lead the world in wine production, producing billions of litres every year. The United States follows closely behind, while Argentina, Australia and Chile remain strong players in the Southern Hemisphere.

But what about the UK? 🇬🇧

The United Kingdom does produce wine — and it’s growing rapidly, especially in sparkling wine. However, UK production currently ranges between roughly 8–22 million litres per year depending on harvest conditions. That’s tiny compared to Italy’s 4,000+ million litres, which is why the UK doesn’t yet appear in the global top 20 by volume.

English sparkling wine is gaining international recognition, regularly competing with Champagne in blind tastings. So while the UK isn’t a volume giant, it’s becoming a serious quality contender.
