Italian renovation series for those looking to buy a house in Italy. I bought a farmhouse with land in the Le Marche region. 2 years in, I start the biggest project so far. 30 olive trees will transform this renovation and land.

This episode sums up life in Italy while doing a property renovation. It shows the variety of daily life – the work that goes into it, enjoying the weather and outdoor life, epic views, great food and wine, and that sense of exploring and adventure. That’s what I love about Italy — there’s just so much variety and opportunity.

From quiet days here in Le Marche to heading up to the Dolomites for skiing in Madonna di Campiglio, it really shows how diverse life here can be. I think this episode shows how much Italy has changed my life, and how much it could change yours too — more sunshine, a slower pace, still getting a lot done, and actually enjoying it along the way.

I’ve really loved this episode, and as always, thank you so much for watching and supporting the channel. I really appreciate all the wine gifts, and I’ve loved chatting to those of you I’ve spoken to on video calls — they’ve been brilliant. I’m glad you’ve got a lot from the calls, and I’ll definitely keep them going.

As always, feel free to message me anytime — my contact details are on my YouTube channel page. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you soon.

  1. You could use grit mixed with epoxy as a top layer on the steps. That way it won’t get washed out from the rain and if you smooth it then will be good for bare feet to walk on. Make sure you pack all of the joints between the stones to make it solid and stable for the future

  2. I must say that your filming technique, editing and B-role inserts has improved a lot over the years I've been following you Richard. You are doing great in that area as well.

  3. Great seeing all the progress that you have made in this video. Bravo and looking forward to seeing more. 🍷cheers

  4. Hi, nice video!! I wanted to mention that you probably should start planning some kind of fencing to keep the livestock from getting into those newly planted tree trees, and doing damage to your investment. Maybe the kind of electric fencing that you can put up that is movable and it would also keep the wild boars away from new olive trees as they will eat trees up until the tree are about 8 years old. ❤

  5. Great vid. Now, the steps, I would put a fairly dry concrete mix down. Maybe add some colour to the mix to blend in with the stones. I remember years ago chatting to a man that built dry stone walls for living. The one thing he said that stuck was if you pick up a stone you use it. Otherwise you will spend all day just picking up and dropping stones.

  6. I may have missed something from your narration because I was eating lunch as I watched the episode, but who is the blonde on the slopes?

  7. You are planting those olives for your grand kids, one the most thoughtful thing a man can do, Well done……………I am so jealous, all the best.

  8. I look forward to lunch on Friday's now. I enjoy the other "bits and bobs" as you say. Great to see the skiing portion. What a day to ski with hardly anyone else on the mountain. Everything is starting to take shape nicely. $30 Euros a tree planted is dirt cheap. I would have those guys plant your terrace when you are ready. Looking forward to next week's video! Cheers!

  9. The Dolomites are my favourite place in the world, Corvara was my destination for years, tried other countries and continents, nothing is quite the same. Seriously thinking of doing what you've done, but anything other than a barn in that area is hellishly expensive.
