What happens when you mix 100 miles of the South West Coast Path with gale-force winds, freezing rain, and ankle-deep mud? Welcome to the UTMB Arc of Attrition 2026.
This year, I swapped racing for presenting β and got a front-row seat to one of the toughest weekends in British ultra running. From Hugh Tibbs smashing the 100 miler to Anne Sophe Pollestad flying in from Norway to take the women’s crown, this vlog captures it all.
What you’ll see in this video:
– Pre-race interviews with Hugh Tibbs and Ben from Time on Feet
– Behind the scenes at the UTMB race village in Cornwall
– Finish line moments from the Arc 100, Arc 50, Arc 25, and the brand new Arc
12
– The full awards ceremony with all the podium finishers
– Honest chat about what it’s really like to present at a UTMB event
The Arc of Attrition is now part of the UTMB World Series, meaning finishers
can enter the ballot for UTMB Mont Blanc in Chamonix. This was the first UTMB
World Series event of 2026 β and the Cornish coast delivered exactly the kind
of suffering the Arc is famous for.
Whether you’re training for your first ultra or dreaming of tackling the full
100 miles, this video shows you what to expect from one of the UK’s most
iconic races.

Nice one Stephen. Good to see you at the Eco Park π have a good rest π hope your voice has come back π good work π
Great work Stephen and what a weekend a true AoA weather race, everyone from the volunteers, arc angels, directors, the local people and the runners πββοΈ.
Look forward to the 2027 UTMB Arc Of Attrition, I will be on the start line and this time I will finish π π
Been waiting for this one, thanks for all the effort out in to capture so many different elements of this one and nice work on the mic! Weather a real kicker for this yearβs event
UKβs hardest 100? Like a park run compared to uts100!
Great to see you there Stephen – still maintaining you promised me a runnable course with only rolling hills π hope the voice has recovered and well done with all your MC work at the finish π
What happened to the presentation for the womenβs 50 winners?
Great video! What a weekend!
Agree on Simon's hair, looks phenomenal all things considered! Thanks for getting that footage at the finish line and I hope your voice is recovered now!
I love videos like this "behind the scenes" Stephen, we all love them so much. I know how hard it is to do the live streams you did in previous years, I did loves those, but we understand why you can't anymore. Was there a live stream at the finish? I couldn't find it. Oh and are you doing Cape Wrath ultra again? π
Nice video Stephen, caught the atmosphere of the event really well. I have a quick question. I finished first in my age category for the ARC50, but didnβt realise this was part of the awards ceremony. Were there trophies given for this and if so do you think UTMB would send out if I contacted them?
Did you find your landyard in the end?
