QUICK PACKING LIST FOR SPRING
Layers: Think like an onion! Light jackets for chilly mornings and nights.
Footwear: Comfortable, broken-in walking shoes (water-resistant is best!).
Rain Gear: A compact umbrella or a light rain jacket.
Accessories: Sunglasses and a hat (the Italian sun is stronger than it looks!).
Pack Light: Avoid bulky suitcases for those Venice bridges and Italian trains!
WHY VISIT ITALY IN THE SPRING?

The Weather: Escape the July humidity. May offers the perfect mid-20°C temperatures.
The Costs: March and April offer “Shoulder Season” rates on flights and hotels.
The Crowds: Experience the major cities before the peak North American and Asian tourist seasons begin in June.
The Food: Taste seasonal delicacies like Carciofi alla Giudea (Roman deep-fried artichokes) that you can’t find in the summer!

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend’s lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.

After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

  1. We went to Italy in late March / early April. The trade off of cooler, wetter weather for lower crowds was worth it. However, we were in Rome for Easter weekend (accidentally, we didn’t realize ahead of time) and that caused a few issues. The day we planned to go to the colosseum, some guy had booked it for the entire day. We asked who could get away with that and were told it was “Il Papa.” Apparently he’s some sort of big shot.

  2. We went in early Dec and there were no crowds…The temp was about 60 in Rome. We left Italy and went to Venice.. It was about 45, but the crowds were super small.
