Come along with us for a stop in Tuscany’s Siena, Italy. We will visit the beautiful Piazza del Campo, see where the wild Palio horse race takes place, stop for local Chianti Classico wine and an Aperol spritz while overlooking the piazza.
Inside the Cathedral of Siena, we will see more works of art including the spectacular marble inlay floors which took over 600 years and 200 artists to complete!
We will also see the home of St. Catherine of Siena and the basilica named for this patron saint of Italy.
Food and wine are plentiful and we’ll try the pizza as well as some Tuscan cuisine such as the delicious Florentine steak.
We’ll be staying within the city gates at the Hotel Athena. With its beautiful terrace and daily breakfast all within a short walk of all the city sites, we definitely recommend taking a look!
