The Alta Via 1 is a classic 125 km point-to-point route in the Dolomites in northern Italy. We covered the trail over 5 days in early September of 2024, moving fast and light—relying on mountain rifugios along the way for meals and accommodations.

When are you and Audree going to have children?
Great soundtrack selection. Awesome video.
I am from there and really appreciate people that have respect for nature and the mountains like you do.
I love the way you like a beer at the end of the day you two, classy. You must do the GR20, hardest route in Europe
Your videos are so inspiring! My husband is a big fan of yours. Just curious where you're finding these maps. They look way nicer than google. : ) Geo Layers?
Is that an AI narrator?
Thank you so much for sharing this adventure. Love how layered this film is. Such good storytelling and visuals 🙌
I sooo want to do the Alta Via, but I'm totally incapable of sleeping in a crowded hut with other people. So if I set my bivvy in the bushes after dusk and take off before dawn, I'm allowed to camp?
I'm really envious of how you manage to carry photo equipment (e.g. a drone) on a running trip😊 I usually have to choose to either hike and bring all my photo stuff along or run, then it's all cut to 1 or 2 action cameras🥲 I'm especially nervous of taking a drone on a run, feel like all that bounce can't be good for it 😅
Great video! Never watched fastpacking video before but I really enjoyed it! I'm looking into doing Alta Via 1 in the future and yours is one of the better videos of this trail I've seen so far. 👌
May I ask what camera you used to film it??
Questo e' stato uno dei migliori video che io abbia visto sulle Dolomiti e ne ho visti tantissimi. Hai reso in modo molto personale la bellezza di quei posti. Bravissimo👏🤗
Magical
I just ran the Lavaredo 80km race last month and watching this reminded me of just how lucky I am to have witnessed and raced in the Dolomites, just the most beautiful part of the world. I also got PTSD when I saw just how long the 12km descent into Cortina looks now (in your day 3). That was a tough descent for my quads 😂
gpx tracks you could share?
Hi. Having the pace 3 and thinking of buying a mode rugged coros, I am just curious regarding the vertix 2s. Did you charge it every night? or it lasted the adventure on a single charge? Which gps setting did you use throughout the trek? basic gps, all systems on or dual frequency mode? Thanks
This is great footage and a great adventure. I've subscribed. All the best for the future, Jim.
If there is no available bed, is it possible to spend one night on the floor on my mattress and sleeping bag?
Dear Jeff, congratulations on yet another amazing storytelling. You've inspired me to successfully do the TMB in 5 days in 2024 and in 2025 I (unsuccessfully) tried to do the GR20 in Corsica also in 5 days. Thanks to you, Alta Via 1 is the project for 2026! Would it be possible for you to share the GPX files of your ALTA VIA 1 ? Thank you so much
Love the energy in this video! I’m working on similar adventure & travel stories on my own channel — always cool to see others doing the same 🙌
Great footage , what an amazing adventure this must have been, Thanks for sharing.
We did AV1 in september 2023. Not what I expected. The first part is beautifull, the rifugios are fine. But the last part the track get very difficult and the rifugios get lazy, no service, no love for the food, no working showers, and almost only americans on the track. There are so many other places that is better.
Hey! What poles do you guys use? This trail looks amazing! What time of year did you do it? Do you reserve Refugio’s ahead of time?
And… what fast packs do you like?
Livin’ the dream. ❤
Hey Jeff and Audrie,
How fit one need to be able to complete this route? What is the benchmark?
The beauty of the Alps with their 1000 faces – one of them caught geniously in this nice film.
One of the best I've seen.
Jeff loved the video! We are fast packing the AV1 next week, how much water did you carry, 1 liter?
Absolutely outstanding scenery 🤩🤩🤩
Amazing video and amazing Alta Via!
What brand is your watch with maps and elevation ?
Today my next door neighbor told me he was going to the Dolomites this week. And then this video pops up on my feed!
✨MAGICAL!!✨
thanks for the great video. I enjoyed watching. on the last day, did you have to book a bus from La Pissa?
Did you used only the insta360 x5?
Wow what a journey and beautifully shot. You certainly lucked – out with the weather. Thanks for enabling us to enjoy the magnificent scenery. Good luck with all your future endeavours.
sir, thank you
Doggo tax certainly has been paid! The comment section is pleased
I really hope you enjoyed my land.
Welcome in Italia.
Fabulous videography. May I ask what gear was used? Some shots are so stable and smooth, do not tell me you brought a gimbal with you ! 😱
Absolutely amazing footage! Definitely doing this one day! Thanks for sharing such a beautiful part of the world 😀👊
What an amazing trip, looks incredible, what a beautiful place. Living the dream! Thanks for sharing 🫶🏻✌️
very good details! love video !
Probably a late impossioble question but i was wondering what soundtrack is being played at this time, shazam failed me 11:42-12 minute mark
This summer I worked in one of the rifugi on the Alta Via 1 and it was with my greatest surprise that I saw Audree walking, or rather running, in! It was crazy to see on of you guys in real life and she was so nice!!
What a beautiful content! What camera(s) do you use?
Fantastic video, and awesome that you have shared all the information here.
Regarding water, did you carry any additional water aside from the front pocket bottles? From my experience, those get empty fast which is ok as long as there's ample, dependable water fill spots.
During the hike you carried all you had with you in those tiny packs (drone, too?). Did you also have travel luggage/items stored somewhere for before/after the hike? Just curious the logistics.
We stayed a week in val di Funes and hiked lots of the popular peaks/hikes in the area (Lago de Sorapis, Seceda, Tre Cime, etc.) and would love to go back and do what you both have done. Looks spectacular. Thanks!
26:19, lightning and the sound edit is beautiful.
Hello, do you have the information on where you stayed/planned for this trip?
