Highlands Bar & Grill put the Birmingham, Alabama, dining scene on the map when it opened in 1982. Chef and co-owner Frank Stitt, who runs Highlands with his wife, Pardis, has already been inducted into the Alabama Academy of Honor and included among the James Beard Foundationโ€™s Whos Who of Food & Beverage. The daily changing menu includes regional Southern foods prepared with classic French technique, such as oysters, grits, pheasant and venison.
