Shit you bought a bottle of really crappy wine, bet you got a headache after it I'm Italian and even with supermarket offers here you should never go below 3 euros a bottle for a half decent wine, generally good wine comes for 5-6 euros upwards, great wine goes over 15 euros Then there is the "cheapo shelf" where you got that stuff, generally there are also huge 2-3-5 liter bottles of the cheap ones and those products cater generally to old poor people with a drinking habit on a budget
