You could tell how Van was looking at Jared that he knew the guy was bullshiting. It’s really sad that Jared made such a disappointing heel turn in this Season. He was my favorite in Season 15 due to his down to earth personality (which is more than I can say for more than half that cast. Looking at you Frank). Seeing him go from that to a miserable excuse maker is just tragic. At least Van kept all of his good traits coming into the All Star Season. And he was from the one that gave us Joseph.
I wish Jared hadn't faked a cut. I believe that he did it because he missed Ashley, who was eliminated unfairly.

Always gonna wonder exactly what made Jared think he had a cut. My theory: He mentions in a later confessional that his towel had blood all over it, and mentions being “lost” at the elimination plea. Maybe he was overwhelmed, got some sauce on his towel, happened to place his thumb there, and then the sight of his thumb surrounded by dark liquid tricked him into thinking he was bleeding. That doesn’t explain why he continued to think he had a cut even after being eliminated, but it’s something…
