Capri-sun is the pouch drinking experience. It is the product. It’s more important than the juice inside.
In the 00s in Germany there was a trend to sew shopping bags out of the pouches
Funny how it started in trendy Capri with big celebrity endorsements and ended up in primarily in children’s lunchboxes.
🤔Also, cool Space look & fit into lunchbox’s better at the time…
Capitalism > Environment, right? 👏
Ok but this doesn't answer the question **why**, it's just about the doypack being the new thing. Why did capri sun go with the doypack instead of tetrabrik? Did they do market research and find people would associate it with 'fun'? Did they assume there was shelf recognizability? This is just a background of who, what, when where, but not WHY. There's a logical bit missing here.
So maybe anothe research hole, but how is kool aid getting away with using the Doypack while sunny-d got sued?
We have slightly different packaging here in the UK. Instead of popping in a straw we have a twist lid with wings.
Great content but u will say it felt weird without background music! Just wanted to give a heads up
Wait how did Koolaid Jammers get past Capri Sun withthe pouches!?
Wow, never knew the Doypack/Tetrabrick war was so hard fought.
You're telling me Capri Sun and Michael Schumacher came out at the same time, in the same country?
"So many hours" quick napkin math…
Assuming "so many" is a huge exaggeration, but still greater than 1 hour, let's go with 2 hours spent putting straws in the pouch. (= 7200 seconds)
Let's also assume a larger duration than it likely takes on average to perform the action: 15 seconds.
480 pouches.
I dunno man, it's definitely a smaller number than I expected, but I don't think you cranked out nearly 500 Capris in your day. 😛
"good things come in difficult-to-open packages" 😂
"The European spelling“. That’s German. The name of language is German, not European. 😂
Although i had trouble getting the straw in, my kids never seemed to have a problem. I guessed they had opened many more than i ever had!

"NASA’s beverage package is a modified Capri Sun package made from a foil laminate."
Imagine being dumb enough to think you own the concept of a pouch.
Imagine being dumb enough to agree with them.
You doing research is evil you should just mindless agree with TikTokers
Paperboat in india uses such packaging
congrats for getting it with a plastic straw still
There is a cap version of the pouch as well, with a screw on lid so you don't have to drink it all at once
All I want to know is if the plastic lining used in it is any worse or better than the lining used in a regular juice box or soda can. Trying to find drinks not stored in plastic is really hard and expensive in the US.
I learned how to poke the pouches properly when I learned how to start IVs as an EMT.
total skill issue, they are so easy to open. get good dude.
I have never in my life, had the slightest problem with the straw.
No other juice box turns into a cell phone with a telescoping antenna when you finished it
I was quite skilled at getting the straw into the Capri Sun pouch as a child, unfortunately 30 some years later that skill hasn’t paid off, yet.
It's actually easier to puncture the bottom than the little hole
As always-great reporting on these interesting topics!
If environmentalists hate it, sounds good to me 😂
Just squeeze it & then poke it with your thumb over the straw hole.
The accent on Capri should be on the first syllable. CApri
I guess I was a gifted child or something because I don’t recall having much trouble getting the straw in the pouch.
Put your thumb over the opening of the straw!!
Fun fact:
Tetra-Pak is a Swedish invention 🇸🇪
Fun Fact, we used the empty pouch to scare our friends. We did place it on the ground and jumped onto it to make it pop. It was even more fun to pop the pound in a empty school hallway
I wonder if they get mad that I turn it over and just stab the straw through the bottom. (No need to worry about setting it down, cause it won't make it that far to be set down).
But aren’t koolaid jammers sold in the same style pouch?
Wait, i thought capitalism breeds innovation? Youre telling me Capri-Sun keeps using these shitty, plastic lined, unrecyclable, and will defend it litigiously for brand recognition?? No way.
Because it's cheap
That package is so difficult to open without turning the straw into mush. Plus it is incredibly hard to carry around with you and will never have a bigger straw to make the drink more satisfying. I hate that package so much, I avoid guying it.
It’s funny, I dont think Capri Sun would have much appeal if it weren’t for the unique packaging. The juice itself isn’t anything to write home about, and I’m sure if it was in a traditional bottle or box people wouldn’t cate for it nearly as much.
I have never understood why people like Capri-Sonne. It tastes horrible compared to real pure fruit juice.
Struggle? Have you ever seen a toddler go nuts trying to get the last bit of juice out of a juice box?
My mum once cut a capri sun with scissors, and poured into a glass and never have I felt more disappointed in drinking juice
It’s not that hard. I don’t get it
