One of my favourite places near Rome is definitely Sperlonga, a cute little coastal village 148 kilometers south from Rome. Its long white sandy beach with clear shallow waters must be the best beach near Rome, and even one of the best beaches in whole Italy.
When I feel the need to get out of the office, I tend to take a train from Rome to Sperlonga. The beauty of the place is that you don’t need to plan or do anything special, the day goes well just by hanging barefoot and carefree by the beach.
Be sure to take your camera with you, since the village is absolutely picturesque and the beach is made to catch the most beautiful sunsets.
