SAVE THIS‼️Did you know there’s a special Italian fine dining restaurant on top of a former school compound?

It’s not everyday we are this impressed by a restaurant, and @somma.world has checked all our boxes on what makes an impressive dining experience. Situated on the fourth floor of @newbahru, Somma is Chef Mirko Febbrile’s (@iammirkofebbrile) latest project, representing the ‘sum’ of his life’s culinary experiences while growing up in Puglia and all around the world — hence the name, 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘢. ➕

We aren’t strangers to fine dining, but can we just say that this restaurant has went beyond our expectations? Starting with the service, we were greeted by the entire team from the moment we entered, and presented with two simple bites made out of artichoke, which is the season’s prized gem. Each team member was also highly attentive to us, synchronising their movements for that special touch. And they were also able to relate the story behind each dish perfectly. 👏

Now, for the food, that’s on a whole other spectrum. Somma only changes their menu three times each year, and the menu we had is for 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘢, otherwise known as ‘the season of harvest’. Their pasta was made using an ancient wheat known as 𝘒𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘯, along with a 20kg red carrot reduction sauce. We can’t even fathom the amount of work that goes behind the R&D process! However, Somma shouldn’t be your ‘introduction’ to the fine dining world, because the menu here is anything but simple, with acquired flavours and hard-to-accept ingredients like sea snails and aged cheeses. 🍽️

The menu starts from $168++ for the 4-course, with three signatures (such as the Cheese Experience) you can choose to add on. For the level of service and food, this price point is definitely worth every dollar, especially since it is highly likely they’ll be getting a star this year (fingers crossed~).
