They turned to wine. But not just drinking it—selling it, directly to the public.
Through tiny openings carved into palace walls: wine windows.
No innkeepers. No contact. Just a hand through stone and a glass of Chianti.
Genius? Definitely. Especially during the plague. And guess what? One of these windows still works today—at a place called Babae.
