Castello di Spessa Golf & Country Club is set in the heart of the Collio area around Gorizia, a fascinating land that nudges the border with Slovenia. The proximity of the sea means winter is not too severe, thus ensuring that golf can be played all year round. The varying topography of the eighteen- hole course has affected the structure of the fairways, giving the impression of playing on three different courses immersed in the vineyards and olive groves of the Collio. The fourth hole, a par 4 with a green defended by two ponds and a large bunker, is especially taxing. The unique driving range overlooking the castle can accommodate 20 golfers at a time.
The undoubted feature of Castello di Spessa Golf & Country Club is its delightful thirteenth-century castle, which has been converted into an hotel with 15 rooms and suites.
The Wine & Golf Resort also hosts the bistrot “Il Gusto di Casanova, “La Tavernetta al Castello”, a gourmet restaurant with meat and fish dishes and 10 rooms, a wine shop, where you can taste and buy D.O.C. Der Golf & Country Club Castello di Spessa (13.Jh.) liegt mitten im Weinanbaugebiet Collio Goriziano, einer reizvollen Gegend an der Grenze zu Slowenien und Österreich. Hier ist das Klima milde und bietet gute Temperaturunterschiede, die das Golfen auch im Winter ermöglichen.
Der von dem bekannten Architekten Giacomo Cabrini entworfene 18-Loch-Platz wird durch verschiedene Ausblicke geprägt, die auch die Anlage der Fairways unterscheiden, so dass der Eindruck entsteht, auf drei verschiedenen Plätzen zu spielen, die aber immer in die Weinberge und Olivenhaine des Collio Goriziano eingebettet sind. Besonders anspruchsvoll ist das Par-4-Loch 4 mit einem Green, das sich durch zwei Wasserhindernisse und einen großen Bunker auszeichnet. Der Golf & Country Club Castello di Spessa wird von dem märchenhaften Schloss dominiert, dessen Ursprünge bis ins 13. Jahrhundert zurückreichen und das seinen Gästen heute 15 Zimmer und ein Loft anbietet, die mit antiken Möbeln eingerichtet sind und von denen aus der Blick über die sich bis zum Horizont erstreckenden Weinberge, die den Platz umgeben, schweift. Das Resort Castello di Spessa umfasst neben dem Hotel, dem Empfangssaal, dem Wine Shop und dem Konferenzraum auch die gleichnamigen Weinkellerei, die Weine in den DOC-Gebieten Collio und Friuli Isonzo produziert, das Feinschmeckerrestaurant La Tavernetta al Castello, die Hosteria, die regionale Spezialitäten in einem informellen Ambiente anbietet und das Bistrot Il Gusto di Casanova, die die Gaumen mit regionalen Exzellenz erfreuen:
