Faria is a restaurant specializing in Portuguese cuisine in Kailua and has only been open for a few months. It has been gaining popularity very fast. Surprisingly, they are the only Portuguese restaurant on Oahu despite our big Portuguese population.

  1. Hey sis, I've had Portuguese soup before, very ono. We had it years ago on Kauai. That's the only Portuguese food I've eaten. It all looks ono. Cod & halibut are some of my favorite white fish. Such a cool place. I love the decor. Take care and have a blessed night.

  2. Debbie has had a lot of Portuguese food in her younger days, after all she is Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese. 50% Hawaiian. God bless sista.

  3. That looked so good. I never would have thought there were no Portuguese restaurants here, but thank goodness you found this place! Family coming to visit next month. I'm going to see if I can make reservations. Thanks for showing the Flaming Linguisa…will make sure to tie my hair back for that dish! Everything sounds so delicious. The custard tart looked so good. I tried making it once, so I know how much effort it takes to make it. Last, you ate a cooked carrot?!? Good for you!

  4. Everything looks so delicious. 😋 The fire at the table 😮would scare me a little, lol. I was looking at the menu when you showed it and the prices aren’t high to me. The mainland economy is so bad and prices are horrible here.

  5. Great video Misty! I'm so uncultured never heard any of the you and Terrance ate, other than the soup. Everything looks so ono!

  6. The drinking glass is called a "vampire" glass. You drink it through the glass "vein" (stem). I've been meaning to yry this. Thanks for the reminder 👍🙂.

  7. When food gets a "god damn" it must be really good. Everything looked delicious. Will have to try Portugese food one day. Thanks for Faria.

  8. Hi Misty 👋 Gemma’s daughter married a Portuguese. He was born here in Australia, his parents are Portuguese. Get a load of this , his parents are named Paul and Paula 🤣 Crazy right !
    Cheers Rod and Gemma 🤙

  9. Thanks for highlighting yet another gem of a restaurant on the island, Misty. Looked awesome onolicious and.something new for the palate! And the vibe and decor.looked on-point as well.
P.S: I used to live in Pacific Grand off Makaloa, and this guy who lived there for decades told me it was originally a Portuguese restaurant there where Shilawon Korean restaurant eventually took over.

  10. My Aunt Mary Souza made the best Vinha d'alhos. We usually had it after church for breakfast with cube bake potatoes, eggs and sweet bread. I have the recipe but have not yet made it like her's.

  11. Misty, sorry but gotta correct U again. It's now the only 1 'cuz Gramma's Kitchen (Honoka'a) closed last year; & years ago there was a Portuguese restaurant on Oahu. ("Lisboa", near the Pagoda Hotel)

  12. So glad I found your channel… great review, great attitude so down to Earth and nothing fake. Thanks for introducing this restaurant I was born in the Azores and live in California but go to Hawaii a lot. Feel like going today just to try this Restaurant lol

  13. Hey Misti, Looking great in the video. I haven't have Portuguese in such a while. I had a cuban friend who used to cook Portuguese, and he made the best paella. The soup would be good right now. I might have to go find me some piri piri chicken for dinner. There was a place in Maryland, when I lived there for business, that had the best piri piri chicken and they also had the portugeuse tarts too that were yummy. Stay safe.

  14. I love this place!! And! The owners are the bestest people. Good food, good wine, good people!! Such a wonderfully curated place by the bestest people!!

  15. Oooh I wanted to visit when I was there in March but couldn't get a reservation 🙁. My mouth was watering for the whole video ….

  16. Aloha Misty!! Oh wow!!! First Portuguese restaurant and it's not too far from me. Nhi and I are def going next week . That Portuguese sausage with flames got me sold!!🔥🔥🔥🔥 Hope all is well friend🤙😁

  17. I'm so excited. My sisters and I have bee watig to go.
But I have to correct you on it being the 1st Portuguese restaurant. There was one in town and one in Kaneohe before this. My sister and I were able to eat at the one in town before it closed. It was great.
😂 I bought it at Costco. Haven't Haven't found it again.
    Mahalo Misty and Terence ❤
I hope to go this month

  18. Hi Misty!! Love your printed blouse. I love the wall decors, too. Did you see watercress soup on the menu? Nice to see Terrence enjoying dinner with you. I'd enjoy the seafood stew and the pork vinegar dish. Lucky to have all these various ethnicities and good eatery's on Oahu.

  19. Portuguese traveled to many countries. They were explorers. Italy adopted a lot of the Portuguese foods as did the Filipinos and many other places. Nice to see authentic Portuguese restaurant in Hawaii, finally! With the huge Portuguese population here you’d think there would have been a restaurant to represent them a long time ago.

  20. Aloha Misty and Terrence: That was a great vlog of this new restaurant in Kailua. Despite growing-up in Hawaii, I never have seen a Portuguese restaurant. The closest was a Macau—Portuguese-inspired Chinese restaurant on Hotel Steet, which is long gone. Now, you can enjoy Portugese food without heading to the East Coast — 😀. That grilled sausage must have been a “wow” experience! The egg tarts looked a lot better compared to the ones I pick-up in Chinatown. The atmosphere at the restaurant looked very well for a great dining experience. I really enjoyed this vlog. I am looking forward to the next vlog. Best wishes to you both and your ohana. Much 🧧and 🤙, my fellow 🐯!
