Edinburgh has a brand-new fish and chips spot, and I’m here to find out if it’s the real deal or just another tourist trap! Join me as I visit Landys Proper Fish and Chips, the city’s latest chippy, to see if it lives up to its name. From crispy battered fish to golden chips, I’ll be tasting it all and giving my honest review.
Is this the best new place for a traditional fish supper in Edinburgh, or is it just hype? Watch to find out!

Steer clear of rip off Edinburgh.
Not for me. Pricey. Chips are under cooked as well. Always The Fishmarket for me at Newhaven 👍🔥
I don’t like Skin or bones on my fish Micheal, if you ever do a uk tour, please come to the north, our seasides are amazing and the fish and chips that you get from the likes of Whitby are the best in the UK imo.
Corporate restaurant.. 😢 had a bad feeling.. 😞 shame.. over priced.. get yourself to a local small business 😜❤
Wetherspoons fish /chips with mushy peas . Plus soft / alcoholic drink. £10.
Looks crap for the money. What kind of fruit is Coke Zero made from? You called it ‘Juice’ what are the Coca-Cola company ‘juicing’?
Besides the architecture. I can’t stand Edinburgh anymore, it’s just so full of tourists and people trailing bags around with them. The city is just geared towards entertaining visitors. No one there seems to be from there. Glasgow is a far better city to experience Scotland.
Total tourist trap garbage not even worth a tenner that, pumping the tourists for as much as possible. Avoiding that like the plague , 7 quid for a marsbar 😂 £3:50 for a that coke , total bollocks , keep up the good work
So you paid the service charge and tipped on top of that ? My wife and I went out for a 3 course lunch @ £17 a head in an Italian restaurant in Morningside. Paid them £37 tops including the tip. I think you were ripped off.
Curry sauce on a plate of fish and chips doesn't belong there.
That looks awful. Pure grease and how hard can it be to deep fry frozen food and get it cooked correctly!! Not hard atoll. Especially if they have a qualified chef 🧑🍳 which they probably don’t. ✌️
honestly the price is bonkers since you have to buy mushy peas and curry sauce separately after almost 20 quid (considering service charge) for just the fish and chips and tartar sauce, I think they are taking the piss honestly, great location for tourists.
To put the price in context, the Mayfair chippy in London, arguably one of the most expensive posh chippys, charges 24.95 for Fried cod or haddock, chips, mushy peas, tartar & chip shop curry sauce or HP gravy.
Landy's is 15.95 + 3.5 + 3.5, only two quid behind. Give me a break
There's more than enough chippies nearby to not go if you're a local, nothing against the staff there they seem like good people
Robbed on the juice pal
I've telt you to try the Alhambra in Bellshill
Rip off. same prices as London and the people who live there get an extra pay deal for working in a big city. try going to fife or angus much cheaper.
love a deep fried mars bars as well as deep fried cadburys creme egg with ice cream….honest video…thank you….and that map of edinburgh is amazingly helpful
Great vlog Michael, my two favourite things in one video, Edinburgh and fish and chips. Back in the day when I worked in Auld Reekie I used to go the the chippy down at Gorgie near tynecastle. Massive fish supper and a lot cheaper than anything near the Royal Mile. Keep up the good work.
Hey, loving watching your videos around Edinburgh. It would really good to see a fish supper from a takeaway chippy down Leith walk. We like seeing the prices on the menu also.
Keep up the good work.
Landys is owned by the Vittoria Group.
If i was paying £16 for Fish & Chips and had to rip my sauces out of a plastic bag id certainly never be going back.
Your standards are either a lot lower than mine or you ate easily pleased.
I love your content. My son lives in Edinburgh. We are in Scottish Borders. But please where is your knife 🙈. Sorry but eating like an American drives me crazy. My dad used to slap our hands lol 😂😂. Apologies just my upbringing. We are coming to the Burgh for a wedding on the Royal Mile in 4 weeks.. cant wait ! And yes the tourist areas are mega pricey…damn disgrace
Manager, says the chips were half cooked, to balance it up??? Half cooked – are not cooked, take £2.50 off the bill to ‘Balance it up’ personally would’nt eat in those type of pretend fish and chip shops
You must have said something for him him to come over to you, no?
Real fish and chip shops have Haddock Skin on available, and offer COD
