This is Bologna Italy. What is Bologna Italy known for? It’s a city of ancient architecture, amazing tortellini, lasagna and bolognese! Planning to visit Bologna soon? Here’s some fun things to do in Bologna for you and your travel partner!

Bologna is located in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. One of the top Bologna attractions include the two towers, which are symbols of the city. These towers are actually called the Asinelli and Garisenda towers and were built in the 12th century. Put your walking shoes on because the only way up is by stairs, but the view up top is awesome!

When you get back on the streets, take a short walk over to the main square of Piazza Maggiore for people watching! If it’s a nice day, you’ll see people sitting down in the middle of the square, eating, drinking wine, playing music or just relaxing so join the party. Right in front of you is the Basilica Di San Petronio and the Palazzo D’Accursio.

We took a hop on/hop off ride around the city and ended up at the Sanctuary of the Madonna Di San Luca, the highest point of Bologna.

Make sure to check out one of the coolest statues in the city, the Fountain of Neptune, built in 1567.

Getting hungry yet? Bologna lasagna is calling your name. This city has some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had, but the Bologna lasagna is heavenly. To be honest, I tried the lasagna at many places and it was all very tasty, but my favorite lasagna was at Osteria Del Podesta’.

While Bologna has many things to offer, there’s also some short day trips outside of the city from the Bologna train station. Check those out here:
