What I find strange in the US and in my visits to other places is that North Indians and other Indians from the non-Southern parts of India, who normally hate South India, South Indian people, South indian languages, South Indian culture etc. but everywhere they eagerly line up to eat South Indian food with even more excitement than South Indians. Even in South Indian restaurants and South Indian temples in the US, Canada, Middle East and Europe, I find more North Indians lining up for darshan in the temples and to eat South Indian food in the South Indian restaurants. Can someone explain this hypocrisy? Even in that famous South Indian temple in New York, with that popular basement restaurant with great South Indian food, I find a lot of North Indians praying at the temple and eagerly enjoying the South Indian food there.
