Renovation Farmhouse Italy. Welcome back to my Italian Farmhouse Renovation showcasing the best of Italy and the Le Marche region as I travel and explore. This episode sees me pulling the barn roof down and chainsawing a very large tree safely. I also get some inspiration on a design idea for the conversion of the outhouse.

Welcome to my channel which is all about my big plans to renovate an old disused rustic farmhouse that I purchased in rural Italy. I show you why I chose to buy a house in Italy and why I chose to move abroad and live in the Marche region over places such as Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo and Puglia.

  1. What a great video
Watching you both get the roof of the barn off
You are a great team and got it done with no accidents
    The tree cutting was amazing
If had not done it before I could not tell
So wonderful to have good friends
Enjoy you both all the video
Working hard but also laughing and got it completed
Take care and see you in next video
    ❤❤❤❤❤❤

  2. What a good friend! I so enjoyed watching the two of you together. By the way, Consider getting some solar lights for your little deck.✨️

  3. Looks like Great Progress.
Love the Mower Wave Shot… 📸
    Game Changer!
That Sheet Metal would be Great for Snow Boarding this Winter! 😜🤟✌️
    Enjoyed the Show!
    Thanks again for Sharing.

  4. I saw a few others had the same reaction I had to this video and prior one, too. Bang, bang, bang… yank, yank, yank, repeat for days!!! Why??? You could have easily cut every nail or bolt with a grinder or reciprocating saw to get the wood beams on the ground and then removed the corrugated roof panels.
You didn’t seem to be preserving the wood anyway so why waste all those hours? The point of demolition is to use the most advantageous tools to accomplish the task as quickly as possible. No need for finesse at all.
Please, please, PLEEEZE, don’t use a chainsaw anywhere above your shoulders!!! That is a recipe for disaster with any little slip. You did your major cuts fine, not dangerous at all. But recreating the scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre by holding the chainsaw fully extended over your head made me close my eyes.

  5. Meant in a very positive way, but I got a flashback on Waldorf & Statler while you were rambling on the terrace deck😁. Perfect ease of a long lasting friendship. Very nice to see you both working with pleasure together on the house.

  6. I really like your channel, Mate
There's a remnant of your satirical dry humour still alive and well in the character of ever Australian Anglo Saxon Celt
If you want something demolished in half the time
With maximum effect and extreme prejudice
    Put an Aussie on it
It would have been a bonfire with barbie and beers in 25 minutes flat
    Lol
    I just returned from Italy
I wished I'd had time to look you up
If you ever need a hand with anything

    Hydraulic or
    Mechanical
    Hit me up

  7. Siccome mi piacerebbe seguirti fino a fine ristrutturazione di suggerirei di armarti di casco e guanti quando fai questo tipo di lavori 🤣🤭🤗

  8. 😊Yes, that's it! It's what we Italians call " l'arte di arrangiarsi" keep it up but be careful, very careful! Please! 😊

  9. This video defines the brilliance of YouTube. Two mates confronted a project and made memories that everyone can witness and appreciate.
Well done but I admit I thought you would take out the corner of the building.

  10. The great thing about doing things slowly is that you get to appreciate and discover the possibilities of a place rather than getting contractors to go in gung ho at it. Regarding the roof terrace on the outhouse building, to get around planning permission, how about putting a wooden deck above the roof rather than a tiled one as part of the roof? That way it wouldn’t be a permanent structure, just a second ‘star gazing’ deck… but of course it would be a wonderfully private space for sun and stars. 😁

  11. Alot of good work done mate, lovely to see, thanks for another great episode of your adventure

  12. invest in , or hire tirfors for these kind of jobs , controls the direction of drops and eliminates the pain 🙂

  13. Thank goodness you and your amazing friend came out safe on both of those projects ❤ Your making your paradise even more amazing each video. I love how you got yourself a lawn mower. As always Thanks for sharing and can’t wait until next time. Cindy

  14. You've a great pal there, Richard. He's a keeper. We're just completing our garden kitchen here in Ostuni, in preparation for the royal unveiling next weekend to the great and good community we've met since arriving here. Both ex-pat and local…..each of which have a story to tell and a meal to share.

  15. Thanks for the advice (annie.v1928) and the hours of entertainment watching your videos. So informative! I'm just over six weeks from leaving New Zealand and the excitement is building!

  16. Love watching your progress. We watch to enjoy, learn, live by proxy and even perhaps help. I haven't seen you use one, but a come-along would he very helpful for. Mostly when you are working alone.

  17. That was two huge jobs, well done. The old shed looked really sketchy to get down, even with both of you. The tree is always unnerving, you can never be sure it's going to fall how you want, but it went really well.👍

  18. Hi Richard, No wonder you were exhausted 😮‍💨 Without your wonderful friend, it would have been impossible and dangerous, to tackle jobs like that ,by yourself ! He seemed to be enjoying himself !
I was worried when you decided to start cutting the tree down 😱but in the end ,it went well !
Looking forward to seeing what you get up to next !

  19. I'm glad you finally got a mower…I've been waiting haha. Also, wondering why you didn't somehow hook to your vehicle to pull some of that down quicker. My dad and I did that pulling some stumps out of the ground when I was a teen…fond memories…not! lol.

  20. You need a SawsAll … Don't think I've seen you use one. It would have made this project a LOT easier.

  21. Man vs Tree! You both got a lot done and even in that heat. What a great way to end a hard work day, watching the sunset like that.

  22. I’m up to number 20! I’ve been enjoying your experiences! Im just a bloke from Virginia USA here thinking about retiring in Italy so this is so helpful.

  23. Great video as always but this one was extra special. Lovely to see the bond between two friends and how much you can achieve with an extra pair of hands.
Making memories and stories you can tell in the future when you’re sitting down at your house there when it’s all done.
Look forward to the video of your trips together in Marche.

  24. Man, got tired looking. Back-seating here, but could you not get the metal plates of first. I feel the grinder in my hand man, lol 🤣

  25. Ричард привет! Когда заводил пилу что бы спилить дерево и она заборахлела я думала он сейчас объявили (сломалась) 😂😅

  26. I've watched all 20 videos in about 3 weeks and I'm delighted I've finally caught up. It's great to see the progress. I'm looking myself in Italy at the moment and as an engineer and general handyman I'm glad to see how well you're doing the jobs.
Can't wait to see the finished product.
