Much to Eva’s horror, the very first “pasta” I ever ate was a can of SpaghettiOs. A lot of people have asked Eva to try this canned classic, so I picked some up recently… only to discover that Eva found something surprisingly authentic about SpaghettiOs.

In this video, she’s sharing the Italian version of “SpaghettiOs.” Plus, if I’m lucky, I can convince her to try a bite of ACTUAL SpaghettiOs…

  1. What was the FIRST pasta you ever ate? Was it some boring, homemade recipe or a can of DELICIOUS SpaghettiOs? 😉

  2. I think Italians probably burn cans of SpaghettiO's at the stake TBH
dont know if that counts as cooking them though

  3. I was lucky, my mom learned from Italian spouse of my dad's Marine buddy when he was stationed in California.on how to make authentic Italian American food from scratch. Her best dishes.

  4. Get a meat grinder attachment for that KitchenAid stand mixer you have on the counter, and grind your own beef instead of buying store bought ground beef.

  5. The first pasta I ever ate is Greek Pastitsio, which is similar to a lasagna, but also very distinct.
As for this I remember Spaghetti'os growing up, we used to add cut up vienna sausage and warm it up on the stove top with that. It was good in the sense of a novelty kid's food item, but as an adult not so much. I'd rather just make something with a passata and cheese using that pasta shape. I got to ask though, is the egg plant mandatory? I'm allergic to it personally, wondering if I can substitute it for something like Zucchini, or omit it all together? I feel like everything is great with the dish Eva makes here, but I just can't eat egg plant even though I like it!

  6. Speak for yourself Harper. Spaghetti-o's are disgusting. Ate it maybe once or twice at other people's house when I was growing. So gross. Ava's looks S-O-O-O MUCH better. Also love another eggplant dish. Not comparable to the gross glop in a can.

  7. Pasta Grammar: Again, you need to be here in NJ.. I can find them in the pasta section in my Farmer's Market store !!!! (with the ditaline etc and by Colavita in cellophane bags..not the cheap box stuff!!)))

  8. I ate do much Chef boyardee, hot pockets, pop tarts, sunny D as a kid and teen ager it makes me sick my stomach just recalling the taste. 🤢🤮

  9. I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in San Francisco. My father’s family was from Sicily. I’d never had spaghetti-os or anything like them growing up but was curious when I moved out and could make my own choices about what to eat. I got a can, tried it and spit it out. Revolting. Mushy, sweet and just nasty.

And before anyone asks, the answer is no. Rice-a-Roni was absolutely not the San Francisco treat.

  10. while visiting Australia i had Heinz spaghetti (in can) on toast for lunch with the retired couple living next to my accommodation (I ran an errand to the grocery for them for some things they needed but couldn't carry home)…it was edible and looked a billion times better than whatever came out of that can.
