Today’s adventure starts with a quick day trip to San Diego, CA. I had been craving a trip to San Diego ever since I had gone a few months prior and remembered how amazing of a city it is. Despite being about 85 miles away, sometimes this trip can take over 2 hours depending on when you leave. Luckily I was able to plan ahead and get down there in about an hour and a half prior to most traffic starting.

The day started with a quick pit stop in Del Mar. I wanted to stop by and do a quick walkthrough of One Paseo, a new outdoor mall that opened earlier this year. It is very well done and features many of the more popular stores and eateries popping up in trendier malls.

From there, my main objective today was to get to Little Italy. We were able to make it and still have plenty of time to take in the famous Farmer’s Market they do every weekend. Since I don’t get to enjoy authentic Italian food very often, I of course indulged in some Italian cookies while I was in the area.

After spending some time in Little Italy, we walked along the waterfront looking at the old ships, watched planes come into the airport right near downtown and the water, and spent some time walking around the area.

Once we decided to start heading back north, we stopped off at the famous Liberty Public Market. The market is full of small shops, art galleries, and a large food hall with many different places to eat of all food types. Today decided to eat a salad from the healthier option in the food hall, but I’ll admit the pizza, subs, and cannolis definitely looked tempting.

Farther north we made one last pit stop in Carlsbad, CA for a quick drive through. Carlsbad is a neat downtown area and waterfront that I have not yet explored enough. I enjoyed the drive through the main beach area and hope to return for a bike ride or a day trip.

Overall, a quick but fun day in San Diego County.
