The World of Kaiserreich is an animated video series explaining the lore of the Hearts of Iron mod Kaiserreich. In the alt-history timeline of Kaiserreich, a German victory in WW1 changes the world as we know it.

In this episode, Kaiserreich artist Hussard and voice actor Gian give us a closer look at the beleaguered states of Italy. A crushing defeat in the Weltkrieg proved too much for the young republic to handle. After a short but brutal civil war, Italy has shattered into an Austrian puppet monarchy, a pro-Internationale North and a conservative, anti-Syndicalist South. All along the boot of Europe, ideological factions face off in a tense stalemate – awaiting the Second Weltkrieg to come.

However, even in the midst of this turmoil, love can still endure. A young, rash lieutenant sneaks across the border at night to steal time with his childhood sweetheart…
