  1. Perspective over time! Indeed. Although it makes some people say "I hate these new global warming Chablis" and me, the novice say "Wow, this fresh, old-world Chardonnay is delicious!"

  2. Yo mad haters in these comments! Wine is more popular than beer in America right now, which by definition means it can be many things to many people 🙂

  3. When I drink wins, it gives me an appreciate all the people behind it.

I think about the vineyard manager who cares for the soil and the vines, for pruning and cultivating the vines, monitoring the bunches, and harvesting at the optimal time.

I think about the wine makers who ferment the wine and select the variety of vessels for maturation, to get the best properties of each type of vessel, and decide whether to sacrifice a few gallons per barrel to avoid filtration.

And I think about the multi-generation Cooper families who form the seasoned staves into roses and bend them into barrels, and toast them according to the winemaker's preference.

And especially for the owners who start with a vision, seek out the land with the optimal location, soil, and climate, and choose the proper clones to achieve their vision to create a beautiful wine, that people will desire and seek to find.

Wine making is one of the most charming industries in the entire world. And it posesses so much knowledge and so many processes, from the most ancient, to the most cutting edge.

A potato is a potato and a bean is a bean. But every bottle of wine is unique. It has its own beauty and its own personality. Some have magnificence and power, while others are delicate and suttle. Each beautiful in their own unique way. Even the next vintage, made from the same vines, will not duplicate its unique charm.

For so many, creating the grand cru is more alluring for them than gold is for the prospector who gave up everything, to go and search for the mother load. It is not suprising at all, that so many people go so ape shit crazy over wine. It's magical, with so many surprises and hidden gems. Wine truly is, "Nectar for the gods."
