Cheapest city break we’ve ever done, potentially the best region. Part 1 of a 3 part series we travel to Brindisi in Puglia and explore the eastern coast of the region. visiting Monopoli , Polignana del Mare, Taranto, Lecce and of course Brindisi. Flying from Manchester to Brindisi exactly 3 hours. We where met with Great food, amazing wine and scenery to reset the soul.

Well for £44.00 a night here right on the waterfront, i don’t think its to bad at all. (Kelly) Amazing (Kelly) It has everything i like as a lady. (Terry) Yeah Very good So got decent wardrobes and Bed side cabinets theres Kels dresses hanging my shirts below
Ok it’s one room its a bit of a bedsit ermm but we have got the table we can sit around. (Kelly) Studio i would call it. (Terry) Yeah Studio-ish isn’t it. Got a washing machine which is an added bonus, for going (Home) Quiet a small shower and Yeah all very good
We’re going out for dinner now. ermmm we booked this about a month ago So hopefully, they’ve still got it (The reservation) but the taxi driver recommended it as well, as he dropped us off. so hundred yards up the road so we will see you over there.

Fresh lobster…. if you want it. 2016 Salento, that’s local we got two local beers to start off with The smell in here is incredible, isn’t it Kelly Anyway cheers That was gorgeous Yeah lovely isn’t it fresh tomato Oregano and majorime i think it might be (Kelly) Oh My God Beautiful isn’t it.
That is like just a little appetiser to go with the beer. (Kelly) That is so nice Yeah Stunning and i’ve had the burnt end which is the best bit I’ve ordered the tasting platter and we have got 5 dishes There’s Buffolo mozzerella (Kelly) Thats octopus (Terry) That’s octopus is it?
Errrr We have got some sort of Salmon i think (Kelly) Oh I Didn’t like that. (Terry) What didn’t you like? Kelly’s not into seafood as much as i am. (Kelly) That’s stunning (Terry) Which one? (Kelly) That’s really nice. (Terry) Right!!! So I am going to tuck into this.
And I’ll let you know what i think. Well they said the portion sizes aren’t little and we have just had another 4 dishes come over. What have you got there Kel? (Kelly) I don’t know! By the way this is like (Home grown tasting) , So nice that fish.
(Kelly) I can’t eat this, as i have got a steak coming. Kelly’s starter has come. Which is the tuna tartar What do you think of that? (Kelly) Gorgeous my gnocchi is absolutley outstanding The texture on the actual gnocchi, oh my god (Kelly explaining) Thats just my taste.
(Terry) You would of just liked the steak without no sauce. Wow the food beat us. Absolutley stunning food but we are full, full. (Kelly) Absolutley amazing food We are not in sicily though are we? (Kelly) They have got loads of sicillians, but the sicillian desserts.
Thats a sicillian dessert, which is (muffles out) (Terry) Where are you going to put this by the way. Have you brought your extra big knickers for this trip (Kelly) Yeah It’s either that or that. Thats sicillian Im dyslexic, so your going to have to see what that says Te.? (Terry) Which One? (Kelly) It’s either that one or that one. (terry) So that one says Babba and the other one says Castatina sicillia (Kelly) So what does that say? (Terry) Babba (Kelly) I got it right then.
(terry) it’s like a knicker blocker glory (Kelly) What the hell is this? (Kelly) I’m not sure about this. What do you reckon Kel? (Kelly) Urghhh No That is not, urghhh You will have to eat that. (terry) I’m not touching it I didnt want it. Why did you order it? (Kelly) Urghhh
(Terry) Why don’t you like it.? Do you like cake Urghhh Turn it off. (The camera) it is very very alcoholicaly it’s like bread pudding with ermm liqueur taste to it. which is you ever had ermm It’s not horrible. it’s definatley not horrible its like ermm. candid peel. its a strong intense taste.
(Kelly) Sorry but i found it absolutley disgusting (Terry) Not for you? (Kelly) No (Terry) So Like i said But it was made perfectly (Kelly) It was made perfectly, But just not to my taste. Very very strong tasting what ever it is.
(Kelly) I love triffle and stuff and i thought it was going to be sort of a sunday sort of thing. But no it is like a croissant but thicker, with erm an alcohol (Kelly) Really strong Like an orange liqueured alcohol, which has got bitters in it. so it is an aquired taste.
(Terry) Oh It is yeah. So that’s where we are staying. and that’s our view when we got up this morning. Lovely But i just got to shout out what a Brilliant restaurant we went to last night. about 100 metres around the corner Kelly didn’t like everything! did you love.
(Kelly) I lked everything bar the pudding. The pudding was awful. The tuna for the starter, I Love raw tuna and usually you just get a little bit. i had a dome of it. and it was absolutley beautiful there was enough for four people. (Terry) The portions where very big.
(Kelly) The steak was lovely The wine was so nice. with no tan-ins this morning, you haven’t woke up with errrr funny tounge. (Terry) No not at all. Right we’re going to try and walk down to the station I’m going to stop filming on this because it is wobbly
We’re going to walk down to the station (Railway) and err we are going to try and catch a train upto Polignana del Mare. Right so here we are at the staition. The 10:45 going to errrr Bari we want the train to Bari yeah and that is at 10:45 Platform 3
And we have to make sure that we get off at Polignana del mare we can’t even say it. Here we are customer service, ticket office. (Railway worker) The price is 27 Euro and 20 cents. (Kelly) Brilliant (Terry)So thats having an open ticket.
How much would it be with a fixed time. Dont worry Dont worry Right that was very helpful and easy wasnt it? So total price for two of us was (Kelly) about £24 Yeah £12 each return. So we have got a few minutes now to wait for the train at 10:45
And we have to get off at Monopoli then get a regional train upto Polignana (del mare) Just come underneath the underground (Walkway) Through and up to platform three we’ve got a 15 minute wait now. And here comes our train bang on time as always in Italy. Ticket guard

Sandwich shop have a drink and a bite to eat. Lets see what Monopoli has to offer. Right we have found this little sandwich bar. it is in the shade but its not cold to sit. I’m probably going to go for the Mortadello Italian mortadella from Bologna
