We have cruised MSC countless times… but never a Seaside class… and WOW was it different!

We have never been literally thrown out of the restaurant by the waiter!… and for simply sitting where we were told!!

Join us to find out more of what happened in this shocking instalment.

This time we even had the added pressure of my parents coming along as first time cruisers…

About us 👪

We are Justin, Tristan & Josh

We started cruising in 2019 with a Norwegian Fjords cruise on P&O Britannia, we fell in love with the ship and cruising and quickly booked a further cruise in the summer on MSC Bellissima. We now have completely caught the bug and have over 9 cruises in the next 12 months…

We love to travel and wanted to share our journeys with the world and they are our way of remembering the great times we’ve had a chance to share some of the tips and tricks we use when travelling as a family.

Good morning from again must say we’re here again but we’re on a different ship this time so yeah so we’re joined here we’re by celebrity reflection which is in Dry Dock let me see Parisian I hope I said that right that one and Costa De edema

So yeah and we’re gonna go film some last bits of kids club from our tour which will be coming out soon or possibly out already yep depends which order I do them when I edit them yeah and then we’re gonna go and take my parents into my side because there’s

Never been so unlike us who come here every five minutes it seems like Barcelona yeah they’ve never been so they’re gonna take him for a walk but first of all kids club and breakfast someone’s starving [Applause] [Applause] thank you [Applause] The crew in the kids and teens Club were great we’ll have an in-depth updated MSC kids club video coming soon Foreign for that one now Josh needs some food as you can see he’s feigning away look hey so foreign Foreign Josh’s wonderful creations wonderful in the vertical as we have hash browns baked beans and a sticky Papa that well-known combination yes Josh yes because that’s a breakfast of champions is that the breakfast of champions [Laughter] we are off are we gonna go and see the mustard the muscles

So let’s keep looking down I’m trying not to trip over and go flying um yeah so this is okay there she is what the sun all the well the sun’s just about coming out I don’t know if I can get the whole ship here oh yeah that’s

The front yeah there you go try not to get run over in the road but yeah that was quite quick and easy and painting this room that was pretty good nice and easy hopefully not too much too long getting on back on board later so for a walk so I’m with MSC offer a shuttle service from the port of Marseille for around 15 euros each not the cheapest but it does get you there I was lost in France not really we know where we are we’re in we’re in Marseille yeah that’s true but yeah she’s lost at home but never mind

Lost at the end of a road to be fair dodgy singing aside we took Tristan’s parents on a whirlwind tour while for us Marseille isn’t our favorite Port it certainly has its charms Oh Justin you’ve certainly been working out lately and time for another sing-along thing do you think can you remember this classic as I walk on through the street of massive the winters is golden gray and I don’t know why I left you that day or where you are I

Don’t know why I haven’t left you this day where do you think we should go for a coffee oh the new Terrace oh I like the Terrace we can have rather than drinks on the Terrace we can have coffee on the Terrace laughs After a quick coffee break we headed for the shuttle oh and the queue we’re on the bus 45 minutes traffic I suppose it can’t be held but I don’t know a bit of communication of her though to be fair I mean my one thing is there was no real like oh the second

Traffic there’s loads of buses coming And then people started queue jumping against really frustrating MSC shouldn’t watch and know if people are queue dropping in control a bit better but you know oh well but um we’re back we’re going to get some lunch I think we’ll be getting water hopefully being on the first bus back at least

Hopefully we need not too long we beat the crown came back on so yeah Josh is the kids club here that’s good because he would not have coped well with that but um yeah so my say was Marseille nothing special being on the first bus there was next to no queue to board

We headed straight up to the smaller Buffet on Deck 16 for some lunch and to enjoy the views The crew was setting up for games on the pool deck these were incredibly popular on this Cruise if you’re feeling daring you can take on the bridge of size just don’t look down Tristan I said Don’t Look Down Time for a glorious Sail Away Good evening so hope you enjoyed that little celery soiree now we’re going to the diamond member Soiree and I thought we’d turn up a little bit so who knows who knows who you’ll meet who knows probably no one but you know let’s see We did make a friend shout out to Murray for keeping us company We have made it to our first ever Diamond members um Soiree evening drinks things celebration I can’t remember what they called it that’s why it’s very nice we’ve got some very nice nibbles on the table and um Justin’s girlfriend at airport Spritz and I have a Prosecco yeah yeah it’s

Very very civilized I’m just watching but the world go by it’s really really nice Soiree finished Tristan took Josh for a mocktail and a glass of bubbles before dinner foreign and we’re taken to our new table and seated for dinner uh yeah so it hasn’t been a fantastic

Day for us we might talk a little bit about I must say in a little while uh in our Vlog series later uh babies on the balcony we had a slip of paper that basically showed the actual restaurant and the table came down here 7 45 sat at

The table and then next thing we noticed that there was another family that were hovering over us and there was a bit of back and forth back and forth with the waiters to see what was going on apparently what they’d given us on the paper was incorrect it

Was all the other restaurant but instead of sort of admitting that there was an issue they went and scribbled out the actual table number and the restaurant and then went and rode on the restaurant and said you’ve got to go upstairs we were like oh well no you’ve

Just scribbled that out and then just put a random number on there and then told us to go upstairs um yeah the weight was not very great because you’re service wise it was quite rude and then we asked to see the manager and he just was like the

Managers over there and Tristan asked a few times whether he could do like a soft Passover to the manager and he wouldn’t he just it was like it wasn’t his problem so he just kept pointing at the Matrix you know the reception desk has come into the restaurant

Yeah they made out that it was our bottle that they had written the wrong uh table in the wrong restaurant and we sort of got a few kind of like try to get thrown out long story short anyway um there was a bit of a debark or we

Were getting a bit you know it was getting a bit heated there after possibly the most awkward and embarrassing dinner on a cruise ever we decided a drink was definitely needed Although the party was in full swing we really weren’t feeling it so headed back to our cabin Back by popular demand under a new title we bring in bivvies on the balcony so not let’s be honest the best cruise day we’ve ever had not the worst either but lots of small issues that could have been made better by communication actually today’s word is is

Communication or lack of yeah lack of communities so Marseille could have been better through communication and they told us it would have been 45 minutes I’d have gone and have a coffee yeah and come back so as we were seeing earlier it was about the bus

So and then during dinner so we changed our dining times yep and there was a whole fluff up at the table which you’ll have seen and would have explained a bit about and yeah we are it was the issue was that we were made

To be that we were at faults yep oh oh hello so after that power outage I had to turn the card around because obviously this machine these card readers for our rooms seem to be and lots of people seem to be having this issue seems to be very temperamental shall we

Say you don’t put the card in exactly the right way the power goes out so yeah so we haven’t had a particularly good day we’re gonna raise it tomorrow with with guest services see what they can do about it it’s about communication it’s it’s not it’s about communication and that’s why

We want to raise it is we want to communicate our issues that we’re experiencing too because we’ve done enough cruises with MSC now so no this isn’t what they’re about and this isn’t right no and therefore we want to give them time to fix this it’s just about being like honest about you

Know some of the issues that we’re having yeah that’s that’s the main thing and I think so anyway tomorrow moving on because I don’t want to talk about this anymore because I’m sick of it is and we’ll talk about it tomorrow when we dealt with it

So tomorrow Josh is going to the aqua Park in the morning yes and he’s gonna push Granddad down the slides yeah maybe I think maybe but maybe if it’s open tomorrow you and Papa could try and zipline and then yeah so this evening as you can see in Justin’s hand

We have the bright blue ocean K or key have you say it iced tea or Miami Beach iced tea unfortunately the ocean K drink is not in the easy plus package it’s nine pounds so it’s just over so we made a bit of a whoops of that so we’ll pay the

Price for that one but never mind it’s for making it while we’re like so we felt bad for the barman so it’s fine we didn’t realize that we didn’t check beforehand so it is kind of our fault that but I’m Josh you’re having surely Tim Paul and how was kids tonight

And what kind of songs did they have all your Classics yeah this is my summer or whatever it’s called My Summer yeah it’s not summer anymore though it’s awesome it is awesome that’s why it’s dark out there this is pure Autumn yeah so and tomorrow night we’re in Asia

Market kitchen which should be a new one for us which is quite cool so yeah and Josh is coming too I like um food so yeah so tomorrow is self-imposed sea day explore the ship a bit more hopefully have a better day and yeah so we’re gonna say good night foreign

  1. Love your honesty, about the communication or lack of it. Hope that MSC take note. OMG your son Josh is adorable and he loves his Shirley temple mocktails. He’s one lucky boy having two great daddies that take him away on cruises

  2. Check out the free port bus next time, just need to walk a short way to the gates, 5 minutes, follow the green line on the floor. MSC don't mention this free option, they want to sell their tickets

  3. It's not about communication… It is about respect, civility, and following protocol. When a waiter dismisses your request to speak to the manager of the dining salon when there is a clear problem, it is not simply about communication. You are dealing with something else on a whole different level.  There is/should be a seating chart at the entrance that denotes available and seated tables. The person seating guests should have noticed the table was occupied and not brought the other diners forward.

There are so many better ways this could have been handled. The waiter made a decision (unclear of his/her motivation) that he could dismiss you for the other guests. The other guests should have been seated elsewhere once you took your seats. I would have held firm, started recording, and captured faces. I would have made the waiter explain himself (on camera) if he refused to bring the manager forward.

Unless you presented forged items, there is no reason you should have been removed (or asked to leave) your seats. You did not have a bad waiter… You had a bad cruise line where operating protocols are not being followed. Once seated by the staff, default consideration always goes to the seated guests – always.

I'll await you next installment however, I am strongly considering cancelling my next three cruises with MSC.

  4. Aww, what a cutie Josh is – a credit to his dads! I agree on the hash browns, but not sure I'd want the beans so near anything sweet!
It's a shame about the waiter débacle- I understand something got sorted out, but hope it didn't spoil the overall experience

  5. It's terrible but if you go on a party type cruise then it's going to be mad. I prefer something a bit more refined, that said, I would be mad and just say, what the hell, lets just make the most of it, who's round is it for the drinks? Cheers

  6. You guys are a lot more patient than me, if they didn't kick me off the ship for the fuss I'd raise I would have at the very least gotten the arrogant waiters full name and sent Corporate a "sternly worded letter" (a ship's HR officer told me all correspondence or review with a crew member's name ends up in their file)
On a more pleasant note, I'm watching this from a hotel in Florida as I am boarding the nice new NCL Prima tomorrow morning. Yay! 🙂

  7. Thanks for another great vlog guys – entertaining and honest as ever 🤩

It's a huge shame that MSC's customer service fell down like that – we all know that table mix ups do happen, but it's how the crew and cruise line handles the situation that determines how upsetting it is (if at all).

A well managed problem can leave you really appreciating the crew, but blaming the passenger for the ship's mistake is never acceptable.

  8. What happened in the restaurant feels weirdly similar to @Cruise with Ben and David (@Cruisewith) 's experience in MSC once. Hope they made it right for you.

  9. I've noticed a pattern with MSC. It seems like it's always that the issue in their cruises is in the main dining rooms, everything else is great! (while on Grandiosa we had a waiter that was being unfriendly to our friends on the table since they had an ''easy'' package, and was getting pissed off that we ''easy plus'' were sharing our wine with our friends at the table) as if it makes a difference for them… anyway…. in my opinion everyone on the ship is lovely and kind, especially the bartenders at the casino and the people serving at the buffet!
Sorry for making the comment about me, but seeing as you had problems in the dining area, it made me remember stuff and wanted to share a very tiny part of a negative in a wonderful experience overall with MSC!

Seeing Seaview makes me want to go back on it… in Summer!
Really looking forward to the next vlogs guys 😊
