Today we are going to once again talk about where in the world is the sun princess with a little bit more insight of where she is supposed to be in the near future we’re also going to talk about some exciting news from Carnival Corporation we’ve got really exciting

Things coming out of kunard cruise lines we’re going to go over a couple of questions some of you had regarding my video for firsttime Cruisers the other day as well as news from sanini so we’ve got a lot to talk about today so let’s go ahead and get started Hi there this is Allison with let’s go travel tips today is Thursday it is February 22nd of 2024 and let’s start at the top talking about the sun princess I am really enjoying following along and seeing where she is um yesterday I caught a video on Instagram that princess had put

Up and it ends with that Insignia that they have been using for this sun princess and said sailing February 28th I know a lot of you have mentioned that you have noticed other places on social media that princess says she’s sailing February 28th so surely she is I like I

Do like to think she is going to sail on February 28th absolutely um but I also will say they said she was sailing February 8th and February 18th H clear up until she wasn’t and so um to me that’s just not a you know enough to

Think that she for sure is going but I really like to think she’s really going to go this time now there is a website for the port there in chavia there in Rome with uh where all of the ships will be their docks that they’ll be at the times that they’re

Supposed to arrive and I thought you that you would like to know that first of all there are several things to know about a cruise ship but one really interesting thing is just like when airplanes have are going to fly somewhere they have to file a flight

Plan the same thing happens with a cruise ship so um and then also a cruise ship also has a GPS on it and that is how all of these different places like Cruise mapper all of these different sites can know where a cruise ship is actually located in addition to what um

Their their um I almost said flight plans what their plans are for when they’re going to sail so a couple of notes ever since the um some princess did her trials and it has said since January 16th that she is doing sea trials that is what she had filed to do

On that date and she did do them on that date but she is still docked there at the shipyard there um in monfalcone Italy so she is not moved yet but she is scheduled to sail on February 24th so just a couple of days from now and she

Is set to arrive in Rome there at the port at on the 26th which is Monday she is going to be at Doc 25 she is supposed to arrive at 6:00 in the morning for um Tuesday the 27th it shows that she is at that same dock 25 all day long and then

Um on the 28th the day that she is supposed to um first Embark paying passengers um she is supposed to be moving to um doc 12 BN and she is supposed to depart at 1,800 hours which is 600 p.m. so I am really excited for all of you and hope that goes really

Well I’ve got a quick note for you about the sun princess the sun princess has been on my mind a lot as they canceled our cruise I was disappointed but life goes on everything is okay and um as they canceled the next cruise I felt bad

And then as I’m trying to think of what I’m going to do in March um because we were going to go somewhere in February um I really want to go somewhere so we’ve got that weight list in for the sailing on March 19th and if that

Doesn’t get picked up soon we are going to do something else and that’s okay um I was really distressed about it for a little while but you know what I have come to realize it it is just a ship it is just a ship and all of the things

That I enjoy most when I go on a cruise I can do on other ships overall I really enjoy Princess um I also very much enjoy celebrity I have been on Royal Caribbean on Norwegian and they are just fine um but the things that I enjoy on all of

Those cruise lines I can do on any ship it doesn’t have to be the brand newest and uh what we’re going to do in March I’ll let you know I think we just might surprise you when we fly into where we’re going um if we don’t get to go on

The sun princess it’s somewhere that I’ve always wanted to go and the window is open to go so we just might go through that window and go but um if any of you are distressed about um wondering when you’re going to get on the sun princess or anything else just don’t

Like to share it somewhere on social media or with a friend that would be wonderful as well now it is really exciting so Carnival Corporation just has announced that they are going to build an additional Pier at the celebration Island the place that they are developing as a new Private Island

For Carnival Corp um Carnival Cruise Line is going to be the one that uses that island but the really exciting thing about it is um it is going to be able to hold once they finish that Pier which is due to be done in 2025 they are

Going to be able to have four of their EXL class ships import at the same time that is Carnival’s uh largest ship so you could theoretically have the Jubilee the celebration the Marty gr and um um the new one that is coming that we don’t have a name for they’re all at the

Same time so how magnificent would that be um a really quick note for you they talk about how they are going to have different areas on the island so people can spread out there will be lots of space there’s going to be a one mile long beautiful sand beach with um the

Most beautiful lagoons they say in all of the car in um they are also going to have options for you to have um dining shopping um relaxing all of the things that I think that um any of us would want to enjoy on a private island sounds

Like they’re going to be available on that whole brand new island and it’s a really fun thing um Christine Duffy she is the president of Carnival Cruise Line she talked about all of the expansion that they are looking to do on that private island um with that new pier

Coming to be able to accommodate more guests and I just want to say that as we think about that happening I am really excited as we hear from other Cruise Lines about what they are doing to expand their private islands as well I think we’re very familiar with what is

Going on there with Royal Caribbean expanding theirs it was really big news when celebrity announced that several of their um cruises were going to call there at perfect day at CoCo K but um we have heard of msse expanding and doing more with their private island and as I

Have said here before I think that is going to be a really big deal here in the future because the cruise lines can control the whole experience not only do they get all the revenue from everyone coming to that private island and staying there but they can um keep that

Island um as far as security goes as far as making sure that the customers all of the guests have a wonderful experience there in control of that they don’t have to worry about a third party tour conductor anything else at all they’re able to do that and especially as we

Think of the travel advisory that we have heard from some different places they don’t have to worry about that there either they can go there know that everything will be all right so let me know what you think in the comments are you wanting to visit um that new um

Private Island area when it gets all done um tell me everything that you think about that all right now we have got some exciting news coming out of Cunard so card Cruise Line historically in my mind I have thought of card Cruise Line focusing most of all on those

Transatlantic that that cruise line is so famous more and indeed they have done them for so long that um I think they probably they are the best at it right and it’s appropriate that they’re the best at it but they have announced CA from now through early 2027 a bunch of

Their sailings and it is truly gamechanging what Carnival sorry what Cunard is doing um heading out um into 2026 and into 2027 so let me tell you this here really quick um one thing well first first of all you know Cunard has Four Queens and I love to talk about

That they’ve got the Queen Elizabeth Queen Victoria Queen Mary II as well as the brand new Queen an that is coming um really soon here in May one of the really exciting things to come out of these new itineraries is that cart is going to have their very first sailing

Through the locks there of the Panama Canal another really exciting thing is they have this whole new Caribbean itinerary and season going for the Queen Elizabeth so that is on my Becket list I want to try um the Queen Elizabeth there in the Caribbean they’re going to be doing

Roundtrip sailings from Miami so that’s very handy the queen um an and the Queen Mary to are going to be sailing World voyages at the same time those will be departing in January of 2026 they are actually going to a lot of ports that they have never called out before as

Well as ports that are not visited very often by cruise ships and so as we think of Cunard and we think of what they’re doing as you look at their schedule of those trans Atlantics they are running a lot fewer of those trans Atlantics than they used to it used to be that

Consecutively you could easily find um a transatlantic anytime that you wanted to and now those ships are doing other things as well so that Queen Mary too is really branching out in the places that she is sailing to so if you are someone who is really interested in trying

Cunard I think that the time has arrived for you to try it and I’m happy to help you with that if you would like um a few things that I wanted to make sure that you know they’ve got um they’ve got sailings really pretty much everywhere they’ve got the Mediterranean like I

Mentioned the Caribbean they’ve got those two World voyages they’ve got some in Asia um there’s really um they’ve got some that go down to um Australia as well so uh the world is your oyer with Cunard thought I would point that out so I’m very excited about that now if you

Um have been around here following along one of the things that came up with the sun princess when we thought we were going to be going on February 8th is our call there in Santorini had to be changed to cre I love both places so

It’s okay with me to go to cre if we could have gone that would have been nice now um I wanted to let you know initially they were expecting the cable car there on Santorini to be closed through February 28th they have extended that and now

That cable car is going to be closed through March 15th of 2024 and so let me know if anybody is seeing any itinerary changes I kind of looked around when I came across this news but I have not seen a lot of changes thus far so let me

Know if that ends up impacting you and there are a lot of things to do and create let me know what they replaced your Colin santerini with um those of you that happen to be on a cruise that is impacted by that um there’s you know what there are so many beautiful places

To see now um here’s a piece of of sad Cruise news um American Queen voyages has had to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy if you are not familiar with American Queen voyages they do a lot of sailings on the Mississippi River here in the United States as well as some

Other places they site not being able to recover after covid and the entire impact that that had I also noted that um in the third quarter of last year sorry the fourth quarter they had to get a new president they let the president that they had go and so it seems like I

Don’t know if everything was going optimally with that as well but they have had to file bankruptcy so if any of you happen to be booked on American Queen voyages there is a link that you can fill out the form to request a refund on anything that you have paid um

I came across a list of creditors for American Queen voyages you know when someone deques bankruptcy they make that public um right at the top was Sean Marine which um three $995 million so almost $4 million um and that seems like it’s marine fuel I looked up to see what

That was a couple of others that really stood out to me are a couple of them that are travel agencies that would have been selling their um the cruises on those that cruise line so Pleasant holidays they owe almost a million dollars to $943,000 and Travel Leaders neetwork which is what um dream

Vacations that I’m associated with that is their holding company um $222,000 um they owe American Express $400,000 and the other one that stood out to me was the US Postal Service they owe three $743,000 so 3/4 of a million so I really hope I don’t know if they’re going to

End up selling their ships in order to pay their creditors or someone is going to be able to come in with enough money to pay things off and then try to turn that into a profitable uh Cruise Line again uh we’ll just kind of have to wait

And see but it’s sad to know that those cruises won’t be going for all of the people who thought they were going to get to go now yesterday I mentioned that we’re going to go through a few questions that people have had and so if

You are new to cruising or um you know someone who is I did my video the other day about embarcation day I need to do disembarkation so watch for that coming up but there’s a few questions one person asked do you have to hand over your luggage at the port or can you

Bring it with you onto the ship you know what you don’t have to turn it over to anyone at the Port if you don’t want to I always Advocate don’t turn over anything that is valuable to you um whether it’s your CPAP whether it’s your laptop um your jewelry anything that you can’t

Replace I would say don’t turn in and so you can bring I always bring a rolling carryon with me with my bag on top but um I turn in like our checked luggage but if you don’t want to turn yours in you don’t have to you just have to pull

It with you through the whole process and be aware that it really depends on the port some of the ports that we have sailed from have quite a distance that you have to go to roll your bag and some of them it’s not quite so far so make

Sure that if you keep it with you you’re okay to be able to pull it up the ramp because often um like the gangways are um just sloped up and so make sure that you can do that and then you just keep it with you now be aware that if you get

On the ship a little bit early often the state rooms are not ready for you so you’ll just need to keep your luggage with you um whether you’re going somewhere to E eat or sitting down to enjoy a drink or whatever you’re going to do you just keep it with you until

They open the state rooms I think that’s just what you need to know about that um if you do turn it in then it will show up at your stateroom the um Porters or crew members will bring it to your cabin for you and that can really depend on

The day sometimes they don’t take very long to get to you and sometimes they can take a few hours so anything you need immediately make sure that you keep with you another quick question um the last one for today someone wants to know if they have to pay completely in order

To be able to book their dining reservations so unless you are platinum or Elite with Princess you generally have to pay your booking in full and then you can book your dining reservations and the reason I say generally is because every once in a while I hear of a fluke with that

Sometimes people will say well I’m not Platinum Elite I’m not paid in full and I could book my dining reservations so I just thought I would let you know as a general rle you do have to be paid in full in order to be able to do that

If you do pay in full if you’re going on a cruise and it’s a really big deal to you to eat at a certain time you really want those dining reservations and you want your specialty dining set up I would say it’s worth it to pay your

Cruise off so that then you can go ahead and um book your dining reservations otherwise I don’t think it’s that big of a deal um the other thing that I would note about that is they are still having the problem that if you have um a um pre

Premier pack package and you get that specialty dining with it that they’re making you pay for it as a general rule every once in a while there’s a fluke to that as well and um then you have to go to customer service when you get on

Board and ask them to apply your package to cover that specialty dining all right just wanted to let you know and then they don’t credit that back to your credit card they put it on your account as onboard credit it’s refundable onboard credit and so if you don’t spend

It during the course of your cruise you’ll get it back but just be aware that that’s how that works I wish they would fix that problem it would um save a lot of hassle but until they do that’s the way things are so let me know what
