A very short little video to give a glimpse of my Kibbutz Yad Mordechai map (circa 1948). I am using the usual resources to make the map come to life to the best of my budgeted time. I do have a book arriving in a few days that will hopefully answer a few questions and clarify some mysteries with the map effort. My CM opponent is very excited to battle this out in several CM scenarios. He is also making the VASL counterparts to the scenarios. We have an awesome symbiotic war game scenario creation relationship!
I wish I could visit this kibbutz and talk to the museum folks. I am sure there is an old guy who knows this all like the back of his hand. What a great story! I have a video clip of Egyptian King Farouk coming to see the water tower with the Egyptian flag fluttering over it. The water tower is there now as a monument laying on the ground next to Mordechai’s statue. It has holes punched by Egyptian cannons, probably the Humber Mark IV Armored Car 37mm’s. It would be very heavy and I assume it just fell there as the tower crumbled. But maybe it was dragged there? My map has the orange groves and the banana plantation, some wheat fields awaiting summer harvest…and the wadi where the Egyptians formed up for their attack (Nahal Oved).
The kibbutz buildings are next. Chicken coops, dining halls, residences, etc. I have a few photos to guide me.
If anybody knows more about this area and the battle, please comment!

My book arrived! "6 Days at Yad Mordechai" was written back in the early 60's from face to face recorded interviews with the Israeli participants. The author Margaret Larkin has only one small sketch map which disappointed me. But I have found some online videos made by folks visiting the kibbutz museum. I have another book "Genesis" which does have some information from the Egyptian side. All of this is guiding me for making my 1948 map for the mod.
