Welcome to the second wine in our nebiolo flight so today we are featuring alessandro a gian natale disobedient vino rosso 14. pimonte italy and this is a really cool wine because it’s actually a declassified barolo reserva to be labeled as barolo docg it has to be aged for 38 months

And 18 of those have to be in barrel so to be classified as barolo reserva it has to be aged for 62 months so a little over five years and again 18 months in barrel so in 2005 was the first time that brothers alessandro and jian natale decided to

Well didn’t decide to send in their barolo for classification that year and instead of arguing about it they bottled their barolo reserva as a humble vino rosso and it’s been a tradition ever since i would have really loved to try the 05 or the 2010 vintage in this bottling because it doesn’t

Demand the same amount of money that a barolo reserve a docg would even though it’s the same wine so this is a 2014 and this is kind of young to drink of roller reserva i’ve had this in the decanter for two hours now and when i first tried it it had a good

Amount of like you know tart cherry tar there was a little anise and it was kind of tight lots of tannin lots of acid so i’m really excited to see what it tastes like now after two hours of opening up And this is actually coming from monforte de alba so that’s a barolo commune and this is from the famous busia crew so their little section called dardi that’s where it’s coming from so very much right away it’s earth it’s tar it’s a little bit of like a

Like a violety more yeah no more rosy definitely rosy so very floral tar on the nose and the oak used is going to be neutral alessandro worked for bartolo moscarello for 20 years 1978-1998 as winemaker and vineyard manager they’ve taken all of those concepts and traditions to the fantino historic property

So oak being used here it’s a large barrel and it’s not imparting any flavor and it’s really surprisingly perfumed i’m getting more and more of a floral like a complex floral uh aroma to the swine wow and on the palette now that it’s opened up after two hours

The acidity’s there and it’s fresh and it’s higher but it’s just enough where if you had a really awesome i would say steak or or any kind of fatty meat it cuts right through and it just refreshes it doesn’t feel tangy or too tart it’s just perfect acidity here and the tannins

Have softened over two hours and you do want those tannins there because when you pair them with you know like i just said steak fatty meats the tannins will subdue even more and will add more character to your meal and the aromas and the flavors of the swine will just

Pop right out and on the palette it’s really cherry driven and earthy but again it this one’s all about the nose and i think that’s really cool this is an awesome example of what nabiolo can taste like so the next video will have a 2011 sorsato de and that is

A apocamento dried grape nebiolo and i’m really excited to show it off so check me out on the next video it should be right here so click on it and tell me what you think bye
